I am so tired of stories where the only issue they have is self esteem and nobody asking.
I mean I do get the appeal of the whole you were beautiful all along bit, but, seriously, I have read a bazillion of those stories, and given that everybody involved looks like literal movie stars, they're freaking ridiculous.

And it's not like canon doesn't give them actual meaty stuff to work through. Stuff is all over canon. Trust issues and lying for a living and we're not who we are and whole stacks of mental health problems both new and lasting and lifelong, and disabilities same, and on top of all that political differences and being in different minority groups and not really groking each other's experience, and whole stacks of events where you kind of have to fix their universe before you can get them to happily ever after.

But no.

They just never said because they're insecure.

The story you could tell with literally every person in the world with a little tweakage.

Why are we telling it Yet Again with these two?

Today has been busy in the hours since I woke up, which is only a couple hours.
I ran the dishwasher and the washing machine.
I phoned mum and we decided not to attempt complex projects today because monday 13th.
We talked a bunch, which has not happened much this year, and observed it has been three months since the routine was actually a routine.
And then mum did visit to pick up some stuff for the charity shop. Two skirts that are excellent fabrics but too short, four books that I do not need, one DVD that's rubbish, and the big plates from the set I'm getting rid of. The rest of the set would be too heavy. So that's some donations cleared out.
... I quite liked those skirts but if I'm not going to wear them there's no point keeping them.

The Analog and Asimov's magazines arrived, which is good, but now it's going to bug me they don't start with January. Still, many nice things to read, and I shall see which ones I like best.

Pretty good day.

when did they make wonder woman about swords?
swords are what she's stopping.
she uses an unbreakable cord of truth.

I started reading ANALOG, which says March/April 2017.

The first story is a big long one, from page 8 to 41.

I don't quite know what to think of it. No, actually, I think it's being clever, and introduces just about all the science fiction types, and brings them to a logical climax. But I don't know how to feel about it.

The person you feel most sorry for is, by all mathematical logic, the bad guy. And all the characters are more trope than individuation. By the time they've explained what type of being they are their personal attitudes seem a bit tacked on. Or like the trope 100% explains the personality.

So I think it's clever, taking so many types of science fiction and crunching them together, but I'm not sure how I feel about the story. Puzzled, I guess, why they did it that way.

Still, they did it quite well.
