(no subject)

Technically it is 28 minutes late for me to manage posting every day. ah well.
nothing much happened today.
Slept a lot. Refused to wake up at 7 and ended up sleeping until after lunch.
I finally plugged the new answerphone in and did the the message. The old message was probably more cheerful, but that was the best voice I had today. Phoned mum to test it and it seems to be working pretty okay.
Did a laundry and put it away.
Set the alarm on my phone for several unusual things in the next week, starting with a delivery tomorrow morning.

Also I read F&SF. Not sure how gripping it is. The one I just finished was plenty gripping but then had a sort of downer horror ending, like, not the everybody dies one, the one where evil is real but the survivor will spend the rest of their life trying to forget. I never feel that trying to forget about evil is a particularly effective way to improve the world, so that was not to me a great ending.
eh, still half the issue to go.

Not a great day, but not a bad one.

How old?

Someone called themselves fandom old because they'd been in fandom this century so far.

So I got to thinking.

In September it will be twenty years I've been going to conventions.
In April, as in a couple of weeks away, I'll have been in this flat twenty years, and I was definitely in online fandom from my first flat.
And according to my Ao3, which I worked out as close as I could when I first posted things, it has been 20 years, 4 months and 2 weeks since I posted fic for a Halloween challenge.

(It was bad. But it's still up. Because archive.)

I didn't jump straight in at fic posting. I'd joined and started groups before that. I was trying to be in XF fandom way back when I didn't have a computer and needed someone else's login to use the computers at the UEA.

So that's probably 21 years as an active fan.

I dont feel fandom old. Probably because I go to conventions and groups where I'm among the youngers. But that's certainly internet old and fandom middle aged.
