I did not play Wrath of the Righteous today
partly because that's how entire days disappear
but mostly because I am sulking about the difficulty level.

It does warn you that you need to know the system
and I could drop the difficulty at any time
but I am finding it just on the edge of too frustrating
so sometimes it looks like a nice challenge
and then I realise how many times I had to restart fights to avoid tpk.

I still like the game but I am thinking about giving up on Core and dropping a difficulty level to one that is
more achievable.

But then I have been achieving, very slowly, with multiple reloads.

Still.
Due to the new (last) DLC I am playing Wrath of the Righteous again, and I think even on Core difficulty, though I just realised I didnt check when I loaded the frustrating save. It's kicking my ass a lot so it's high enough whatever it is.

I'm sort of not invested in the story level, even though I was looking forwards to playing a tiefling cleric and staying Angel this time. I've played it twice already and Azata or Trickster were more the choices I wanted so now I'm having to ignore the stylish for the alignment. But also when I played as Ianto it combined extra good things in a way that has been excellent brain story for aaaaages now. It's going to be difficult to be more interesting than that.

Might go quiet while I play a lot of game.
Might get frustrated at the difficulty and leave off again.
Shall see.

comments

Instead I kept my exercise streak going by waving my arms while staring at the screen willing the percents to move and thinking of how many hours its going to be before the computer place opens, which turns out not to be relevant, but, you know.
That was not relaxing.

comments

Today: mostly listening to a lot of music.
Shouty music.

I should figure out how to get my CDs into my phone but all the instructions I've seen so far say to either use an apple computer or install itunes on your windows computer and big nope to that.

I used to think I knew how to use computers but every time I learn a task the how to do it changes before the next time I need the task. I used to put my music in each new playing device no problems. Plug it in, drop it in a folder, simples. But all things are now dedicated to being proprietary and complicated.

Also I know there are a number of ways to acquire music that do not involve CDs but that combines the 'they changed all the all' problem with the 'and now I have to buy it again' problem.

That said it would probably be long term simpler to learn how online music works.

When it is not youtube. Youtube only works in firefox with the adblockers. otherwise it's ads every two minutes and you can't listen to an album that way.

I realise the internet wants to make money, but it lately wants to make more money by not in fact letting me do the thing I am there to do, which is pants.

Shouty music is not much of an answer, but, today, is what I've got.

comments

I have been thinking about how and why people use computers, livejournal, dreamwidth.

There was a short story I read from ages before the internet was a Thing that was about a student learning computers, and one of the assignments was to go through old old data and sort it. Don't remember where the story was or many details or I'd reference it better. But. The student saw that in the early days of computing it was all numbers, accounts, business, science, practical stuff you'd need a computer to get done.

Then humans started being human with computers.

And eventually it was all kinds of EVERYthing in there, like recordings of your partner to prove they snore that turned out to get used every night they were away.

So I was thinking, the internet very swiftly has been for all kinds of EVERYthing
but
lately I have been seeing less of it.

I dont think we use online quite the way we used to. Not just we here dreamwidth, we here humans. The way the computers are set up focuses attention for you, will you nil you, and I think we started going quiet in several ways, not being focused on.

But I also personally went quiet for ordinary reasons of doomscrolling, falling out of fandoms, and not really having new opinions.

... sometimes I disagree with earlier me, sometimes a show developed in directions that dumped me right out of it, but the baseline stuff about gender and sexuality and disability feels rather like having the same grumble for twenty five years, because whatever progress we make, there's still grumble to be had. And it hasnt got any more interesting to say it.

All the reasons I fell out with my degree topic, cultural studies, also get in the way of interacting with media texts.

Tricky.

So I take this thought for a wander for a whole bunch of minutes, and then at the end I get the impulse to friends lock it, because anxious.

I kind of miss posting multiple times a day and having a little chat going in the background.

Hello humans, we are human, let's be human!

Let friendship thrive.

I'm going to have to find new ways to try that.

comments
