SGA fic... *blinks a lot*

I started looking for John/Rodney stories. Despite neither watching Atlantis nor fancying John or Rodney. *big shrug*

On AO3 I searched, filtered for No Archive Warnings and m/m, and sorted by word count.

On the first page:
John and Rodney are figure skaters
2 loooooong BDSM AUs
John the Dragonlord on Pern
Rodney McKay, raised by a pod of telepathic whales.
Three-day event rider John Sheppard
John is determined to jump start his catering business
A Regency AU
Historical post-war AU

... all these on the front page of the really long fic.
... some of them aren't even tagged AU.

tentative conclusion: nobody else actually watches Atlantis either, they just like playing with the dolls.

SGA fandom: has a thing.
hopefully it's a happy thing...

{{Snorf}} My most recent McShep was an XO with 'Dancing with the Stars' (the USA version of Strictly Come Dancing).

Is there a particular type of non-AU you'd like?

(They're very nifty dolls, though.)

Heh. The Dean/Castiel side of Supernatural fandom is much the same, except with less variety in the AUs. ("Let's see, one half of my pairing is an angel, so he really doesn't get humans because he's an energy being the size of a skyscraper and as old as the Earth... but he'd be much more interesting as an ordinary high school student!")

I've seen one AU where human!Castiel was on the autistic spectrum and it actually worked really well, but most of the high school AUs I've tried haven't put that much thought into keeping the characterisations close to canon. Leaving me mashing pathetically at the keyboard going "but... you've taken away all his interesting bits..."

The creatures are definitely the fun bit of Supernatural. The writing's not great and I don't particularly care about the main characters but I love the demons/angels/mythology stuff.
