Flash season 3
Just watched the one with Mirror Master, the Top, and Snart
except despite how excited everyone got in advance there wasn't exactly a lot of Snart.
(kick the ball Charlie Brown)
Snart pulling a gun when he's within grappling range is pretty stupid. Why make him stupid?
Also, the thing with Scudder being trapped in the mirror had no logic. It would work if the mirror fell down in the blast so it's only dark, and then people picking it up would make it reflective again, waking Scudder up. But as far as I could tell he just sank into an exposed mirror and stayed that way. Until plot convenient.
Boring.
Actually they were pretty boring.
I mean using the Snart hologram wasn't even useful or necessary? And the cold gun should be super helpful if it borks the mirrors. And just... waste of plot elements, guys.
Joe is not the only one uncomfortable with his children kissing each other. If I had a time machine and could change one single element of this round of DCTV... actually there's a long list, but, that would be waaaaaay up there. I keep making faces. He's kissing his sister. Why did they do that?
Jesse being a speedster... Jesse giving up the first time she made a mistake kind of pissed me off, but then I remember that she's the most gifted of gifted children, and we don't tend to do well when things get difficult for the first time ever. Like, if you've never had to actually try, it feels like the end of the world. Never having developed study skills isn't her current problem, but I can relate. So she's plausible.
I like the more outgoing cheerful Harry too.
So now of course he's being swapped out.
I did not like Harry saying he goes with his gut on hiring people, because that tends to mean being prejudiced, gut feelings being the not logic ones. But they did just not even listen to the messages of the three of Wells who were more different than they were comfortable with, so, yeah, that's... consistent.
Annoying though.
... let's face it, I liked Steampunk!Wells nest for very similar reasons, I have no room to talk.
... best cosplay is best?
HR... I know the ending before the beginning. Spoilers suck.
... but without spoilers I might have got all feelings about the Snart baiting, so spoilers are required of late.
Ugh, DCTV, why so difficult...
Barry's words being backwards was daft, but Barry characterising his current status as 'everything I've ever wanted' like two episodes after he broke the universe to get what he's always wanted... I mean, sure, Barry, tell yourself that, it's better for the universe, healtheir for you, and what the speedforce was trying to tell you about grief and moving on, but... not real plausible.
The team feeling like they need a Wells just makes me think of Eo!Wells smirking in the background. Like, he built the levers in well. Issues, by design, they has them.
Mostly parent issues. We saw him make some unsubtle tries at invoking parents, like with Ollie, but mostly he collected people who feel a gap where a parent could be and just... moved in. Harry was feeling a whole huge injury where a child should be and, like, let the whole lot of them move in right back. So they are a thing now, cause he has hug feelings but has to follow the Quick one around.
So he wanted to be two places at once, but doesn't like the idea of being replaced, is how I read it. Parent feelings problem.
... if everyone was more student mentor it would be a very different vibe.
... also, easier to ship anyone with the one of them I find attractive. But, you know, layers of issues all over the story even trying.
This story needs more adults.
I know Joe is also an adult but don't fancy him.
This is why Coldwave, as well as all the lovely issues to resolve, they're actually a reasonable age.
And that happens mostly to antagonists and people Barry is pushing back against, because it's a growing up show in some ways, so there's all these influences trying to shape him and him trying to be a hero despite and because of them. Different shape to relationships if the story point of view has an age.
Forgot to mention Caitlin. Conceal don't feel? Trying to hide her metahuman abilities because they mostly fight metas? Still seems like a weird approach. Like, I can imagine it like being closeted, but in this metaphor she's working in a pride parade. Harry hasn't even had any issues with his daughter being meta, and his world hasn't given him any good precedent. He just trusts her and fears for her, no fearing her, so far. So it's like... what is the issue she's hiding from, in this group? Cisco was weird about it for like one episode but got over it. Though by her saying she'd never be that. I guess it could be more she's trying to repress and deny? But she used her powers to help Barry.
... I just don't see why they act like they do about being metas. Like, of course you could make bad choices with it, anyone can, and?
eh, drama.
I did a bit like seeing Snart as he was in the before, cold and cruel and willing to shoot them for breaking his rules. He's too easy to like, so, here they provide a reminder he's actually a bad guy. Except we knew, and we like. It's not the most logical point to want to shoot them though, after the job. Like, the other time had more logic. Evil logic. This way only makes sense if he wants to keep them all the time. Still an improvement on the rules he learned from observing his father, who kills successful people for doing what he told them to and not being needed any more, but not actually useful.
Does make Mick pretty high contrast though. Take the painting and go? No wonder he make puzzled face. That's an actual choice he's being offered, and with big money. Apparently the others didn't get that.
I like Lisa being mentioned, after Flashpoint. Her not existing would be an excuse to make him way more of a jerk, but, no fridging, and, he was just the right amount of Cold already.
Episode had some good ingredients, but was just ingredients when it was done.
Makes me want to have another go at it with more theme and stirring.
