My favourite fic plot still floats

You know how there's some problems with continuity between the end of Torchwood and the beginning of Utopia?

Well...

the *end* of Utopia has the Master steal the TARDIS and the Doctor's hand

that's the TARDIS that Jack used to recognise the Doctor by - as he mentioned earlier in the episode - and the hand that is Jack's Doctor detector - which could therefore be rigged to send false signals to a faulty earlier-hand.

that TARDIS we heard at the end of Torchwood?
could *still* be the Master - in fact has an even *greater* chance of it now because he's seen Jack and knows all about him, his immortality, everything key and crucial to him and everything that the Doctor could be assumed to know uniquely.

now for my grand theory to work the bit with Jack at the start of Utopia would have to be the *second* time he believes the Doctor has come for him
which would explain why it doesn't mesh with the end of Torchwood
but leave a big dent in the 'why hasn't Jack mentioned it' column

but (a) Mawdryn Undead and (b) retcon
either Jack meeting himself or Jack's pocketful o drugs could explain that.



I'm not saying this as a *prediction* because (a) continuity not a main priority and (b) they're not so much going to link it to Torchwood because they don't want kiddies to watch it and (c) it's a bit convoluted

I'm just saying that the fic could still fit
where that noise at the end of Torchwood is the Master in a stolen TARDIS
