What Would [character name] Do?

I was just now trying to figure a reply to a post and realised that all the different people in my icons would respond in totally different ways, and I couldn't much decide which if any I agreed with. Which would be what the chaos stars are for.

So now I'm thinking - all this stuff that's been going on making people grrr... There was this rule on a mailing list I was on that was something like Off Topic posts could only happen if they were written in the form of a short in character fic. You could post about your dog if and only if you then had the characters react to you talking about your dog. Because it was a fic list.

What would our characters do?


... because it's much less annoying than reality, yet allows us to poke the issues around some more.

On the subject of the mutability of laws:

Giles would glare and clean his glasses and change the subject.

Ethan would grin and explain how really serial murder is all about context when you get down to it.

Andrew would be very puzzled.

Methos would have some story that didn't seem to be much about laws until you got to the punchline, and then would be more about the more things change the more they stay the same.

The Doctor has always been a bit vague about laws, even though he's got a whole morality going on, as can be seen by how many get on his bad side from not agreeing with it.

Zatanna could say 'wal' and make any law she likes.

Batman only exists because the law wasn't working, but he's veryveryserious about making his versions work now.

but inside he'd be thinking something complicated and cool about how it all compares to music and remixing and how without cover songs most bands would never get started and the coolest cover versions he ever heard.
And then he'd write a song about it.

I like your grip on things. It is much nicer than having to read through the serious posts.

...One tiny thing: Ethan would put a bug in their system that reports all their admin "but it's okay that we screw fandom, and here's why" posts as scary illegal shit to the FBI. While masking all fannish posts as posts about fluffy kittens, and only fans can read what's really behind it.
