I just watched that new DVD of Babylon 5.

Actually I just now finished watching the memorials.
The need for memorials makes me angry. Just in general. And in particular. People are interesting. They should keep on being.
The moment in the actual story that was strongest emotionally was therefore when she said they've gone beyond the rim. Because yeah. Just being out there somewhere, always.

Okay, I'll end up crying more I think about that. I think about the made up bits instead now.

The stories were... odd. Unsatisfying? Sort of not... meaty. Actually they remind me of all the reasons films never grab me the way TV series do. They're tiny self contained pieces that don't draw a hell of a lot of resonance from anything earlier and we'll never get to see the consequences of.
That said:
If the first bit hadn't have been Babylon 5 I'd have loved it. As it was it just struck me as odd. Demons? Really? Demons connected to priests? That's just... that fits nowhere in the show specific mythology. I can't make that fit. As a conclusion it makes no sense. Nothing a demon could do that a sufficiently powerful telepath or possessing entity that we've met already of the non demonic kind couldn't. Right? So... seemed like the guy had a cool story about heaven and hell and earth and stars and wanted to tell it and had this toybox available.

But ignoring that
it was pretty cool.

Reminded me of the low budget horror collection I've got, actually, only with immensely better computer FX. Is it just me or did they only have like a couple of walls, two chairs, and a sofa that were actually there? Everything looked computer graphics-y, only also actually good. It makes the 'two actors on a still small set' kind of acting still have immense possibilities.

I could have lived without the swoopy camera stuff though. I mean, yeah, it's three people in a room talking, but making us motion sick while they do so doesn't really add to the experience.

I think all the acting was plenty good.

The second half, with the techno-mage... did I miss something? They predict the future? Okay. Whatever.
The trouble with that half was there was only one solution and they got there how I expected. It was fine, but it was obvious to me, because that's how my brain works. Maybe it's less obvious to others. *shrug*

So, anyway, two stories that are quite good, focusing down on a single choice in each half.

... now I feel like watching something else.
... oh well.
