Just watched teh Countrycide commentary.
The episode has stopped giving me the creeps. I've watched it enough it's worn off. Er, at least with people chatting about the technical stuff over the top.
There's some good stuff I'd not noticed, like the way they went from steadycam to hand held (wobbly) when Tosh goes missing.
They reckon that Owen being a wanker is just an act and the nice-doctor stuff is the underneath. Er, okay, if you say so. Given relative amounts of time spent one way or the other I'd have thought it was the other way around. Or just different acts for different effects - in fic I had it something like never let them see you sweat, because the patient really needs you. Doesn't make it more/less real.
I hated how they talked about the torture bit. Saying in Torchwood they do what's necessary. Torture *doesn't work* and therefore isn't necessary at all.
I just read the bit about Gwen being second in command now, and had that in mind while watching. Conclusion: she's certainly bossy enough, but nothing she did got them *out* of trouble, rather more digging in, so I hadn't counted it as leadership skills. But then, this is Torchwood - she's no less competent than the others.
I still love that little grin Ianto gives just before the headbutt. I like the idea it was Gareth's idea, but he said it was in the script, so *shrugs*.
He don't say much. Actors not so talky as writers or directors. Surprise.
I still reckon if I'd know what Countrycide was about I wouldn't have watched it. But I admit I'd have missed some nice stuff. So I still call it stupid and cheating, but I know what they were trying to do and it did some stuff real well. So I sulk less about it now.
Well, a bit less.
Sometimes.
