Happy new light day

beccaelizabethSo, today is having more brightlight than yesterday. Yaays. Or, to put it another way, the nights get shorter.
... er, I'm kinda nocturnal, so the 'yaay' is a bit uphill on that one. But I have to admit I grind to a halt when the nights get too long, so *shrugs*.
The bit between solstice and new year is kind of weird, cause it's like the Earth has had a new year and the humans are sitting around in denial waiting to catch up. What's with that? And human-year is the one that's important? So not.
So I had for a while a routine - religious holiday for solstice, family holiday for christmas, and theoretical friends holiday for New Year. Except I never got around to more than lighting a candle for solstice, and last night spent most of the time asleep anyway. And the New Year almost always has only involved watching Rocky Horror and the Hootenanny on BBC2. And the family christmas... well, you know, the food can be edible and sometimes the presents can be swapped around a bit until everyone has one they like. So. Holiday season. Frankly I'd rather be doing exams.
Actually I'd rather have done an exam rather than have this essay to do. Because I'm totally failing at the whole staying awake thing, let alone the getting my brain in gear and studying part, so... er, I typoed that as sod, which is pretty much accurate. Sod it. Blah. College can happen and I'll just sleep some more.
... Unfortunately I know I won't feel that way by the time next semester starts, so I have to do the essay now.
I shall go and sit down and get my laptop out and write!
