oooh, 2-01 blog! With fun and sweetness!
Staff: Very impressed with how everyone coped while I was away. When I got back, they were all out somewhere, so I spent a few hours going through the mission logs. And emails (couldn't help myself). Naturally they're upset with me for leaving. But I had to go while I had the chance. And I was always going to come back. I need them, all of them.
Other Staff issues: Gwen is now engaged. I'm happy for her, but I'm concerned about what it might mean - can she stay here, still keeping everything from Rhys? I worry that we're going to lose her. And I worry about Ianto. I think he took it harder than anyone when I ran off. It's going to take me a while to make things up to him. He is a decent, good man, and I'm lucky I met him.
lookit! <3 ! He calls Ianto all sorts of nice things there.
*is happy*
why does he think Ianto took it hard? Logic or the way he treated him all 'sir' or... something?

Date: 2008-01-28 11:49 pm (UTC)I think it's because Ianto acted upset and wouldn't joke with him and - I'm not joking about it - didn't kiss him or hug him to say 'hello', privately or otherwise.
Thanks for this!

Date: 2008-01-29 01:31 am (UTC)Torchwood: Combat
Date: 2011-01-22 05:41 pm (UTC)I'm writing a book on 21st century attitudes and need to confirm something about the Torchwood episode 'Combat'. I am convinced that it is in this episode that the Weevil fight-club organiser (Mark? can't remember) espouses the philosophy about there being no meaning in life 'and the only consolation is money' - but on the Web it is attributed to Captain John in 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang'. I've tried to find an online script of 'Combat' but no luck so far.
Can you help?
Many thanks.

season three also linked from that community.
http://community.livejournal.com/tw_transcripts/10013.html is Combat
You are wrong about the Weevil fight club. Mark Lynch, the club organiser, said about his money "Success has no worth other than itself." He wasn't interested in his success, possessions, money, that was why he started the fight club.
He said of Weevils
"I think it's us, Owen. You and me. In a thousand years' time. This is what we become, when all we have left is our rage."
And then by the end of the episode he'd done suicide by weevil. So no, he didn't care about money at all, he didn't care about much, if anything.
The web, funnily enough, is correct in attributing the attitude to Captain John Hart, which would make it a 51st not 21st century attitude ;-)
The KKBB quote is "We're a cosmic joke, eye candy. An accident of chemicals and evolution. The jokes, the sex, just cover the fact that nothing means anything. And the only consolation is money."
also I can only hope you're watching this page for replies cause without an LJ name you won't get emailed about this. anon comments don't tend to draw the best response.
