I did not so much like that. Been trying to figure why. The ending seemed to happen several times, which always irritates me. And it was repeat with variation and development, but even so, doesn't quite work for me. And it got so fairytale. Even the click his fingers to open door to make shadow go away... somehow the style of it made it feel like someone telling the story, not us watching the usual DW world. But I think mostly what felt missing was any feeling of investigation and discovery. There was the secret, the one we're never going to get an answer to other than Theta Sigma or Doctor, the what's his name secret, but tis a bit boring to be told it's a very secret secret we shall never know, because really, if we're never going to, why wonder? Aside from that... we found out one new thing, the forest=books thing, but I wasn't actually wondering that. And, yeah, hands up, wondering that should be part of what one does about other life. But it's a swarm that eats and repeats. When the Doctor starts talking to it is the first clue we have there's thinking going on. But it's cool the way that happened, that it's the first clue he has either, he's just going to try it anyway. And I liked the bit about standing next to the door, and teh fall down bit added to the gravity lift bit made a pattern of three with the dive down to saved her at the end. So that should work. Just... it really didn't feel like a whole new story, it felt like the last ten minutes of the one before, only longer.

Also, and I know I have a theme here, but disability stuff... someone having a funny looking face is still a Big Scary? And she'd be unloved? In a 'verse where they just alter memories with a word? Oy. And then there's the stuttering, which I find quite a bit depressing, albeit entirely plausible - he sees the love of his life and misses calling out to her cause it gets stuck. The thing is if you're used to stuttering you're used to that kind of really inconvenient thing, you get strategies - you don't just stand on the teleport and struggle to speak, you go and catch up. He's acting like someone who relies on vocal communication yet is suddenly stuffed for words. Not like someone with their very own ongoing stutter. And, okay, maybe both those issues are from the same source, transcription errors. But... no, because that was supposed to be the difference between the teleported and the wifi. So anyway, doesn't feel like it works. Unless it's the first moment in his life he's had to try and get someone's attention.

Okay, here's one possible reasons I Do Not Like this episode - scary-crying bit in the middle was more scary-crying than other bits. Babies are real! And they exist! And they continue to exist even if you forget for a minute! It's a rule!
... yes, it feels quite unfair when he pokes grown up fears just as much as kid fears. I has strategies for kid fears. The stuff about babies secretly not being real is just too much.
And he named them after his kid? That's... I couldn't do that, that would be really weird.

There's a lot of bits I could-should like. I'll watch it again later and decide if it's actually the story or if I'm grumbly. Didn't much like the confidential either, it mostly told us stuff we already knew and have on DVD. Which, er, it does often. Oh, did you notice who was also in a bunch of clips even if he didn't get named? Nice. Eh. I can only hope all everything that got mentioned will shortly prove to be relevant, cause that could be cool.
