words - difficult

and I had to back up and change a bunch because I was annoying myself. And I suspect why I've ground to a halt is that the scene ought to have finished several sentences back, which therefore means chopping more words off again.
I'd sulk but I'm too tired.
and also, I am out of orange juice.
and also also, I do not think orange juice is good to drink in such quantities as I have had today.

latest story is at 7100+ words and I could call it finished.
it is difficult to believe in the words being actually good for quite some time after I have written something. In fact some stories skip straight from 'still not happy with it' to 'oh my god I wrote that' without the intervening satisfaction.
too much trying to write THE story. I keep reminding myself it is only A story and can be flawed. That way I get words on the page.
