Useful thing of the day - rereading a story and realising it fermented in my brain to help make a story I'm meaning to write now. Which is useful because then I can make sure not to copy details or lift moments that seem to fit just right (because they fit that story just right).

Still havent found the S/X story I actually consciously knew I was grabbing bits from, but I'll just have to hope it stewed long enough to be quite changed enough.

If I made a 'show not tell' icon
and used it for comments that were otherwise not mentioning it
would that be subtle?

because some days I run into a whole lot of stories that make me want to poke them with the show-not-tell stick until they turn into actual stories instead of summaries.

(And other days I write them. first draft. well, 0th draft, because I know I'm going to do that so I rewrite it right away.)
