I have this film filed as 'bloody depressing'
because that ending is just... *ouch*

but this is a really good film

it sets up a simple idea and then follows it through, right to the bitter end, through a handful of characters we get to know real well.

so the ending, when it comes, is payoff, and matters.

I haven't had this on DVD until now, but I don't think I'll tend to watch it very often even now I've got it, because it is just a whole lot of... stuff. Not saving any for the trip back, and the ending in fire. *Lots* of stuff.

Very good film.

skellingtons! yaaaays!
I know I've seen smoother CGI skeletons, but these ones are just gleefully vicious bastards, and I loves them.

Talos the bronze giant was really cool too. Slightly clunky FX? Slightly clunky robo monster!

mens happen in many more shapes and sizes than I would expect on a modern version of this film. and also, more kinds of hairy. Hercules had a hairy belly. I don't recall seeing anyone else with a hairy belly. No heroes. always now they are shiny. very odd.

I poked around and pressed for 'extra features subtitles' and ended up with english subtitles throughout. the subtitles menu is full of not-english. I write this here in case I'll remember to look later when I forget it.

now I very sleepy and shall go sleep.
