so far today I have read 1.6ish chapters of Beginning Theory.
It is full of interesting, and I can connect it in my head to things from Cultural Studies or Sociology, and I have the books for that too so I can connect it in the books as well.

I like having knowledge. knowledge + knowledge is much easier than just +knowledge.

Also my book for the next part of the unit has arrived. I already have the library copy, so now I feel vaguely guilty, but it isn't feasible to get it back to the library any time before I'll next be in for lessons, so I should stop thinking about it.

So I will finish the theory chapter, then read the play, then read Fortean Times, which also just arrived.

Much reading :-)

and after that I can read some of the other books I have out, which are also all interesting.

Stupid headache.
It is a headache, and it is making me feel stupid.
Also blah and uck.
With sneezes.
So, basically, I have a cold.

I really don't want to be ill. Ill is annoying. Ill gets in the way of interesting.

The trouble with back to college is it means back to bazillions of new students with their own microbial ecosystems. Breathing the same air = sneezes. Sulk.

ANYways

finished the reading for the week. Teach was a bit vague on how much we needed to read, so I read the whole thing. Didn't take so very long.
Ibsen, A Doll's House.
Interesting.

Of course I'm going to have to do the reading-with-thinking a bit later. But right now I've read all the words, which makes doing lessons based on them immensely easier, I find.

There's a second reading list for the second teacher on this module.
It starts out with the prescribed texts, 3/4 of them I've now got.
It says "Copies have been ordered from Waterstones, The Arcade, Norwich for you to collect."
Well, that sounds convenient. Might have been nice to have heard that before. You know, if getting into Norwich as far as wherever Waterstones is were a thing I could actually do.
Actually, if I were 100%, I might manage a shopping trip. But I haven't been, pretty much since term started, just with ordinary ill. On top of the mental ill that makes for much inconvenience.

One text from that list to get still.
And from the theory list, many. Quite a lot quite different from the list we got 4 weeks ago.
That one said the books with a * would be useful for our whole course. Didn't much tell us to buy any of them.

This one says "All of these books are in the college library but you should seriously consider buying those I have emboldened to use throughout your degree course:"
And while the list starts with the one the other teach said we all had to buy, that isn't one of the ones in bold.

Useful!

Not that I have any objection whatsoever to buying more books. I *like* books. And regular conversations with the subject librarian are quite nice too. Just... I guess I'm grouchy because I thought the other list was for the unit, not just the first four weeks.

This list looks interesting though. And has little notes in it to say why the books are useful and which chapters to read. The other one just has book book bookbookbook, book.

I did quite a lot of reading today. And yesterday. volume 3 of Great Expectations, the York Notes on it, a chapter from Beginning Theory (the gay and lesbian studies chapter, which I think I'm going to get a lot of the further reading from), then today the first two chapters of Beginning Theory, and the Ibsen, and the studenty notes in the Ibsen, though not all of them because I got grouchy. I think I want to argue with the notes, but don't currently feel quite bright enough to make a coherent argument as to why.

Anyways, off to amazon to line up these books.
