I'm being visited by the ghosts of plotbunnies past, only this time they've made themselves pretty and logical and character driven and stuff just to make it that bit more appealing. See I had an ancient plot bunny that was all a bit arbitrary and you-have-been-chosen, and now it's rearranged itself to be more you-choose *and* to be primarily a romance. Between two guys. One of them possibly descended from angels.

It's the other one that's giving me headaches. For the whole thing to work, he has to work in a hospital. Nice traditional hospital, proper qualified doctor, regular mainstream medecine. Exactly the kind of thing you get on ER or... well, an entire genre of hospital drama on TV.

Trouble is I can't *watch* hospital drama. It makes me entirely too aware of the frailities of human form and I end up hiding under a duvet again. So if I try writing something set there? The vast majority of my readers will be more familiar with the setting than I am.

Problem.

On the other hand, the guys are gorgeous. One of them in my head looks a lot like him that played Jim in the Sentinel, and the other one I made up. He's, like, melting pot man, so mixed race he's basically just human. Modern day everyman, sort of thing. Only not the creepy DC comics cannibal version. An actual healer type doctor. I made some graphics once upon a time. He's really good looking.

And I know exactly how to describe the RB one, the one who might be part angel. I've been thinking up descriptive words and ways to link him to the sky and I know exactly what our first view of him is and that's the first scene and the pov character gets revealed a little more slowly and I'm toying with trying to keep his gender undefined for a page or two. I don't know, it would be kind of fun. Like, start with a romance book wow look at the hotness moment and then gradually show that the one going wow is not the heroine, sort of thing. Only mostly I'm thinking they'll have figure that out from the cover so it's not really worth it.

There's a plot. There's cola from hell, and it's sucking the life out of people. There's a big quest across multiple dimensions to sort it out.

... It's less crack addled told the long way, really ...

But, it has to be in a hospital, or it's a whole other story. And I don't want it to be a whole other story. I mean I could make him a crystals and herbs healer and know roughly what I was talking about, but that would be another crystal magic saves the world thing and I had in mind more a modern medicine adds a new dimension / goes out into the world to help sort of thing. Because modern medicine = yay.

Also, I might have to study up on how to make glass. But that I worry about less. I could drop that part and still have the same story.

... I quite like this story in my head.
There's just the thing where it's original fic and there's no knowing if there's people want to read that.

I like this episode.
You'd think I wouldn't, what with the 'leaving career for man she just met' factor, but look, the universe thinks this is a dumb idea too! Laws of physics won't let her. Yaays!

... okay, that could be a sort of idiosyncratic reading right there.

The other half of the story, with the holosuite? Quark head! Comedy gold.
