If
my theory about the structural similarities of sonnets and television holds up
then
any episode can be expressed in the form of a sonnet.

The tag scenes could turn into heroic couplets.

... I'm sure there's a really good reason I should not attempt to prove this ...

... twenty syllables, two rhymes, how hard can it be...?

That Superstorm thingy I mentioned yesterday?
Just watched the end of it.

In many ways it was very cool. Lots of pretty graphics, and they totally drowned New York. Plus they killed off like a third of their characters and put another third in hospital (which is possibly because they didn't want them confusing the final showdown between Tough Chick and Slimy Guy) and generally they managed to get a whole mess of weather going on in most dramatic ways.

But...

Okay, so the main characters are almost all white. Gender balanced, maybe, but very white. There's only one brown guy.

Guess which character turns out to be a traitor and dies?

I looked up the actor, Cas Anvar, and found an interesting article he wrote. He's Iranian-Canadian, apparently.

The character he played in this storm thingy is Munish Loomba. More Google brings up a thingy that says "Munish is a meteorologist. As a child in Bangladesh, he survived the Bhola Cyclone which killed both his parents. He has devoted his life to finding ways to combat hurricanes."

Bit different.

'Traitor' is a bit overstating it. The boss meteorologist decides something is too dangerous, Munish goes behind everyone's back to do it anyway. Then when the result is huge destruction he goes outside and lets it kill him.

It's just... as a pattern?
... they couldn't have killed off the scruffy white guy? Because, you know, there's several of them, so it wouldn't look like a Thing.

... they did kill off one white guy. From stupid. He went outside to go and be useless somewhere he couldn't get to. I don't know why they did that. So they kill a variety of characters.

Is it a Thing?

... kind of looks like a Thing to me.

Having an unwording kind of evening.
You know, if I could hit a delete key on things said out loud, there's probably be no record of me talking.

Especially between the ages of 12 and 19.

See the day starts with lots of energy and Getting Things Done and sorting and tidying and stuff like that
and then it ends with a head full of whirly busy and a feeling of impending doom and like everything is Wrong Wrong Wrong.

Blah.

I should just go to bed and get a new day ordered up.
