Star Trek Nemesis

Just watched Nemesis for first time. Don't know why I didn't watch it before, just didn't get around to it. Film is odd. Didn't look/feel right. Also felt kinda empty, like a stretched episode instead of a decent two parter. I don't know why I have either of those impressions, I just do.

Also it has been waaaaaay too long since I watched Next Gen, for I find myself almost entirely disconnected from the characters. I'm more "ooh, actress I met at signing!" than I am in the 'verse. Odd.

Ideology is sneaky

So in class at the moment we're pulling stuff apart to hunt for the ideology. It's kind of fun, apart from the whole spitting with rage phase once you notice exactly what they're trying to slip in under the smiles.

One thing about ideology that explains a lot is that it isn't some cynical dish cooked up by powerful and swallowed by powerless. It's for everyone. It doesn't just persuade the disempowered to stay down, it persuades the powerful they really are doing the right thing in staying up.

... there's reasons I like the Doctor so. I feel like I could, with a bit of training, manage the running around saving the world a lot bit, but the bit where people chat and gossip and exchange small information that somehow functions as glue in their pleased to meet yous and all that... tricky.
