Nov. 13th, 2007 05:41 pmWas reading up about Foucault and the panopticon (which I still think is a useful perspective on Torchwood).
Ended up reading something about the pervasive or widespread effects of cleavage.
... sometimes language use leaves me blinky ...
I've found several websites with 'Discipline and Punish' on them, skimmed the bit on panopticism, and read the spark notes. Also checked all three readers and three intro theory books. The websites are more relevant. Plus there was a handout in intro lit.
almost certainly all this will add up to about five minutes of class tomorrow. But hey, I've been reading interesting things.
...my brain feels mushy and I've got to rest my eyes and I reallyneed to sleep, but I'm sure it was all interesting somehow.
I didn't do much reading this week. Output mode. I'm going to take the essay books through to bed in a bit. Yes, its only 1800, not the point. I'll read a couple of essays on this week's text.
I've read much more about next week's text, cause I actually like that.
You know I'm always complaining about the particular texts, so the Doctor Who course should squish that. But you just know it'll manage to pick all the bits I find annoying or something.
(One of my helpful people suggested it would not in fact be about Doctor Who, despite the name and the course description. I find this anti-helpful. I worry. :eyeroll: )
