*waves at world*
hi
am awake
*blinks*
why I awake when no sleep before was having?
also, discover it helps when one pays attention to sell by and use by and stuff. the ribena tasted weird and when I checked there's a use within x days of opening on it. I think I'm going to switch back to the sugary stuff that actually lasts.
so I has no drink except fizzy water and it is 0313 and options for fixing that are limited.

Does Dereham even have 24 hour stores?
I have absolutely no clue.

I think I need to go back to bed more than I need to find out.

Am reading up more about Doctor Who for class tonight.
(am not writing an essay or a presentation. am not sleeping. either would arguably be more useful.)

Just read this bit about 3&Jo:
Manning kept her extreme myopia a secret until the first day of location shooting, when she ran into a tree. Pertwee subsequently always held her hand in chase sequences;

... tell me that's not where the whole hand holding thing started. The thing where we get closeups and squee about how entirely significant and snuggly it is? That would be... amusing.

I went out and got breakfast.
I do not know why, but today it tasted absolutely gorgeous. Like, food of the gods OMG why don't I eat more often oh noes it all got ate type gorgeous. I could taste all the flavours. Egg tasted particularly eggy, and mushroom was reeeeaaally mushroom, and baked beans and potato stuff combined in ways not usually noticed.
Usually when I have Sentinel days it's many sorts of unfun. But sometimes it's like a party in my mouth.
:-D

So, then I went and did my shopping. Only instead of it being a 5 minute in and out it just took me about an hour, because Everything Changes. They moved every single thing. It felt quite unfair. I knew how to do shopping last week, and then this week, no such luck. Also I had to stop and make a written list by closing my eyes and pretending I was walking around the last week shop, because only my feet knew what I wanted to buy today. And then I had to walk up and down comparing my list with every shelf. Annoying. Very. And everyone else was doing the same thing. And there were people with 'Can I help you?' or something on big labels on their chest wandering around ready to tell where things are, but that would involve talking to people on what I had thought would be a quick no fuss shopping outing. So by the time I got done I was quite out of sorts.

Then on the way home I stopped in the factory shop, to buy trousers which turned out to not be restocked in my size yet, and instead found Red Fraggle! Of course I had to buy her. Free the Fraggle! Then the shop person tried to put her in a plastic bag. I left her peering out the top just long enough to get outside the shop then got her out so she could see the world properly. You have to hold fraggles carefully so they don't get squished.
... it's only a mental health problem if it's not fun...
Oh, and also? Her hair bunches have a really neat texture. Kind of fur feathers. I likes.

there were also some shiny things being half price on the checkout that I didn't bother resisting, and a color of nail varnish that I either don't got yet or won't mind having two of. I didn't buy the black nail varnish though. I mean, the really dark purple I wear quite a lot, but black somehow isn't me. This sparkly red though could be very melike.

Now I'm hoping to get some sleep. I have class between 7 and 9pm. I think I can afford to sleep until 4 and some. or 6pm if I get a taxi. I have to do thinking to figure when the latest I can get there on the bus is, but 6pm by car works fine.

*whiney whiney grumbley whine*
woke up an hour before my alarm went off. you'd think that would be because I was feeling all rested. but noooooo.

I did have interesting dreams involving 8 and learning to stop time together. apparently Time Lords can do that but only after they've had a nervous breakdown.

It was interesting, with the glass above the lift shattering in reeeeeaaaaaaalllllly slow motion and me and 8 stopping to have a conversation. Well, sort of a conversation. More like a happy place moment.

Now I have to get up and dressed and go to Norwich.

ETA: *waves hello from Dr Who class*

I won't be posting class notes this week because what we did was recap last week, get handouts, discuss the new episode, have two people do presentations, then watch Dimensions in Time. With the 3D glasses.

One presentation was about how Love & Monsters is quite good actually. I had no objections to that. It even covered why the paving slab is *facepalm*

The other presentations hated Unicorn & Wasp. Because it is not a proper historical. It doesn't teach history or science and needs to get back to the show's roots. In the black and white era.
Now as an opinion I can live with that, though I think the episode had much to say about depictions of history, social attitudes that seem worth mentioning as making history seem outdated, and a lot of neat stuff about forming identities from media texts and how one can choose where to identify with.
The bit that I had to say I disagree with was where he complained about the gays. That was how he put it. The gays getting in to Doctor Who. 'Family viewing? How do you explain that to a child?' The illustration he chose to show this terrible horrible mustnt ever speak of it? Two guys holding hands.
... I did not say anything until his presentation was over. And what I said was that I disagree with that a lot. In big letters. He reckons there's no such thing as a gay kid. I know that line of argument, I know I'm not going to get anywhere with it in a couple of sentences, so I said I not get into argument in class.
Tutor pointed out there's been gay subtext in DW all along.
Used for example Stones of Blood.

Nobody mentioned Jack. I must now do my presentation on Captain Jack Harkness, omnisexual action hero, and the bit JB has said about how kids going for autographs say out loud how it's okay to be gay.
... okay, what I mostly need to do with my presentation is actually do one. Pick an episode and write 500 words. How hard can it be?

... yeah, how many episodes are there again? Even if I just include the ones on DVD + 5 + 7...
indecision always the tricksy bit anyways!

I also still want to do the 'why 7 is sekritly the best Doctor EVA an Ace is the bestest companion even including Martha here I show you Fenric & Last of'

er, I has to go catch car now, finish later

If I'm going to do a presentation on Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who, I'm thinking it's 1-13 for episode focus. With the kissing.
And the confidential that goes with that. with the talking about kissing. do they have the clip and the talking next to each other? Must check my DVDs.

Is also good because there's both kisses next to each other and being exactly the same. That was the point of them. Same sort.

I can also say a bunch about Rose and the shiny ending. I been thinking on the way home and I reckon the point of that ending was just her making a choice. She started out as somebody's daughter, as the kid the Doctor promised to protect, as the pink and girly one to some extent. The Doctor sends her home to protect her. She isn't having any of it. She chooses to get involved on an equal footing, equal risk. I think the point is that choice, and the magic glowing that follows it is... still very annoying, but if it was more obviously technological then the point would still be the choice. This thing matters so she will go fix it.

The problem with that is... the point of the Doctor is he has learned stuff. To me, the point is he's science guy, knowledge guy, studying guy. Every time he has a moment that indicates he was just born different, or born better... that's not so cool. That's the kind of thinking that underlies aristocracy. Nice democratic meritocracy says if you went to the academy you too could do what the Doctor does. And lots of other companion character arcs say the same thing in different techniques. But Rose? If you follow the Doctor around, you too could... become a glowy special superior being? I'm not loving that bit.

I think we only need 500 words for this. so another drabble and some quotes and I'm there.
