I have new hair.
I'm not convinced.
He said he was going a bit darker plum so it wouldn't fade to pink, which sounded good, cause the last lot had faded to a mix of pink and ginger (because of the bleach on the layers that used to be goth black) and, well, no. but now 'darker' is the keyword, and I'm not convinced the color and the black are contrasting hugely.
He left it on for ten minutes extra after he'd got me sitting next to the sink, because someone texted him and he was trying to text back. And the sink time was five minutes later than he'd said it would be. And that's a third as much again of hair dye time.
But he says it stops working when it's done anyway.
Eh.
I was hoping for thinking it was fabulous again. I like fabulous hair days. But the bright red don't half come out all over everything, and then it don't look so very good.

Hair is shorter, and a uniform color. It'll do fine.

He was in a bit of a mood today. Other customers asked him what he was on. I decided I didn't want to know. Was probably only the energy drink can he had anyway.

But he was doing my hair with a straight razor, so basically I was sitting very still and thinking happy thoughts.

I like it when I have less hair. Past a certain point it goes giant and weird. And once it hits my shoulders it just curls up at the ends in a way I find quite annoying.

Now my hair is shorter. More like chin length.
... I always notice my chins when I get my hair done.

Shorter plum colored hair. Is good.

Oh, and on the way home I bought some shiny lip gloss stuff called 42 Moonlight. I know the 42 isn't usually a name part but it was what decided me. Also it might be Moonshine. ANYway, shiny stuff.

And then I bought £10 worth of fake weapons, so I was wandering along in my new best tail coat (because the hairdresser needs to know how tall the collar is) with two foam swords over one shoulder and two cheapo lightsabers over the other.

Win.

I just read someone say

Others seem to wear the mask a little closer to the face.

And it made me pause-ponder.

Also think about Jack Harkness.

It was in a discussion that brought up online pseudonymity and the kind of stable pseuds most of us live under. I mean, mine is my actual name, with the capital letters and spaces taken out, so that mask is all face shaped. But ignoring that... it still seems like a quote I want to bat around and play with, especially about characters, most especially about ones like Jack and the Doctor with (probably) self-chosen (definitely) pseudonyms that they live under for a very long time.

At what point is a pseudonym just a name?

The roots of the word call a pseud a lie, but is a stable 'lie' of this sort really a lie?

After a while whatever it conceals, the 'real' name one might have, is a smaller proportion of actions than the pseudonymous stuff.

Mask/face aspect... ideas of construction of identity, of conscious construction, which can lead to seperation of this part and that even though all actions are undertaken by the same biological entity. Some people construct a mask quite different than their pre existing face. Some people grow into it.

Is a name more of a lie if there's many of it? Is a stable identity that's one of a set less meaningful? If I'm beccaelizabeth and a bunch of other names you know, are they all real? If you don't know the other names, is beccaelizabeth still real?

Real, for names, is not a useful word.

Jack doesn't always feel like he's the real Captain Jack Harkness, even though he's used the name considerable time now. Do you think he's used others in that time? Does that make it seem more like a mask? Or is it just that he knows what's under it?

As does Hart.

Hmmm.

*think*

Does anyone know a good version of Medea?
of the Euripides play, that is
even a student thing on YouTube if it's good

teach can't find any greek tragedy to show us this year
the only one on is in Manchester

so anything, live and nearer Norwich, or taped

Medea, Antigone, Agamemnon

we're going to watch films in class but they're not the same thing at all.

On the plus side if I oversleep tomorrow I can catch up by taking stuff out the library.
... sooooo tempting.
