Doctor Who cures headaches
Nov. 19th, 2008 12:00 amokay, so probably time, food, drink, chocolate, and lying in the dark for a few hours cures headaches, but it was much less boring than usual cause I listened to Doctor Who and it distracted me until I only just remembered I had a headache before. :-)
I finished listening to Kingdom of Silver. New 7th Doctor audio adventure. I haven't listened to any 7 audios yet. I was quite confuzzled where to start. This one has him travelling around on his own and if there's any continuity type stuff I didn't... oh, wait, the Orion war and androids thing, that was in the 8th Doctor audios I already listened to. But that happened later to him so it isn't continuity stuff exactly. Um, confusions.
Kingdom of Silver has Silver in the title so you know who the bad guys are even without the picture on the front. That's okay, they're nicely menacing anyway. And there's lots of running around and mistaken identity and politics and people with interesting voices to make a good story with.
People with interesting voices are quite essential in audios. And good looking voices. I mean, I don't know what the android dude looked like, but he sounds good looking.
... how does that work anyway? Voices make pictures in our heads. That's kind of weird when you think about it.
*looks on back of CD*
*googles*
Hang on, Neil Roberts? As in Starfury conventions? Er, yes, I know he's done other stuff, but I think I've only seen him on TV in his tapes he brings to conventions.
Huh.
I wonder if he's in the CD extras. I didn't put them on my MP3 player, cause then I'd have to fiddle about and skip things on the bus.
ANYway
What I meant to be saying is
7 has a good voice for audios.
Distinctive. Has fun with words.
I liked Kingdom of Silver.
I very a lot liked Keepsake, the bonus one part adventure. It's a bit Sci Fi and a bit action and a bit romantic and a bit sad. Short and shiny. And not episode shaped at all. I like doing different things with the existing toys. Hence the fanfic read/writing.
After that I listened to Blood of the Daleks, both parts.
I wasn't going to do that cause it means I listened to quite large amounts of money today, but I wasn't asleep and they were on the player, and I couldn't stop in the middle cause there were Daleks and everything.
Adventure! Excitement! Finally finding out how the Doctor met Lucie, who I've been listening to for an audio season already cause I started with 2.1
I like how they don't like each other at all. It's fun.
So now it's past midnight and I've done as much listening to Doctor Who today as I have college lessons.
On balance, cool.
Does anyone else listen these? Any suggestions for more systematic listening? I have the rest of the 8th Doctor season to listen to (yaay) but beyond that I just gave up and grabbed two at random. Any recs? Anti-recs?
I also have a heap of DVDs I haven't watched yet, which you'd think would be a priority, but I can't watch on the bus or in the dark, or when I don't think my brain is working. I don't mind if the bus is too loud for a bit on the audios. DVDs though are Serious. :eyeroll:
happy and not headachey. Yaay!
... just found myself contemplating how to make an 8th Doctor icon from one of these CD covers or something... I mean, look at the whole absence of Doctor icons, and which do I want? 8!
