Have caught up on watching Outcasts.
... can I have those hours back?
I think it thinks it's clever.
I also think they should have listened to themselves.
This as an audio would be really obvious drek, rather than pretty landscapes housing obvious drek.
They cannot talk. Nobody talks like that. It's so clunky I get the increasing feeling the actors and all the plot stuff are happening in one, actually not as terrible, story, and someone dubbed the voices on top.
They've had a couple interesting things happen, but on the whole they spend for-blooming-ever to reach beats that you can see coming a mile off, or roll into SF tropes that can be much more successfully packed in to two hours.
Also, I don't care about any characters at all, with the tiny exception of the very pretty guy that does the radio. But for basically shallow reasons that are not in the writing.
What else... oh, yeah, my impression is the race stuff could be thought through just a teensy bit better. I keep thinking 'and this week Scary Black Man will be played by...' Some weeks there's two. It is, on the whole, an incredibly white migration, which is incredibly depressing if you think of this as the last humans. Which I don't even know if it's supposed to be. By this point I'm voting for ( Read more... )
It doesn't seem to be science fiction in the sense of inventing/applying a new technology and seeing how it impacts society. It's more like someone wants to play at horror and decided nowhere on Earth was sufficiently isolated.
I'm very, very bored.
