Rainbows!

You know how you can get an image in mind and hit the internet to go find a thing you're sure will only take a minute and oh look it's an hour later?

I got in mind an image of a rainbow stripes clerical stole, with some silver thread in it. In my head it was very pretty. So I thought I'd just look up rainbow ribbons and be done for the night. Seeing as I'd already been staring at the ceiling two hours from being done for the night the first time.

Rainbow stoles, quite possibly the most gorgeous things ever. Well, the most gorgeous rainbow fabric things in the most recent bits of ever. Soooooo pretty.

... still not the one in my head.

And at some point tonight I must sleep.

I have less than four hours before I have to get up again, and it's the last lesson of the year.

I went to college even though I only had 2 hours sleep. And I participated in lessons. Out loud even.
... I'm kind of chatty on two hours sleep.
... I was probably coherent.

... I'm reasonably sure the teacher would have stopped me if I wasn't coherent...

SO! We watched the end of the Zeferelli R&J and the Baz Luhrmann R+J and the Tromeo and Juliet. Only one of those involved finding out Juliet was secretly his sister, so I guess it could have been worse. Also we watched a jeans ad that said it was based on Romeo and Juliet but didn't much resemble it.

Teacher told me to stop typing notes in the quiet bits. I tried to type very slowly so I was quiet but it didn't work because my brain goes out through my fingers and I have to concentrate on Not Typing. Or on the film. We were supposed to concentrate on the film. The thing is I've successfully channelled all my other twiddly clicky clacky tappy fidgety behaviours into note taking. I've got me all trained now. I can't just stop because there's a quiet bit. Teach thinks it must annoy the other students but never in eight years has anyone mentioned it. I never notice typing noises cause they're normal. Maybe I'm annoying everyone and they just wouldn't say. But what's the point of watching and not taking notes anyway?

So, anyway, we watched Romeo and Juliet kill themselves a lot. Except for the one where they went and made mutant babies instead.

... it's not a good day when the mutant babies are even in contention for the least worst ending...

Also today the teacher compared mixed race relationships to incest.
... no, I don't even, she said that's what some racists would say, but, she just said it, with words even.

Also also she said something about the manga we studied being full of drawings of white people, and it's not, it's full of black and white drawings in an assortment of usual manga styles.

She has much the knowings about Renaissance and about Bakhtin and theory and stuff. She has not so much the knowings about manga or how to make the DVDs play on the computer. *sigh*

Teacher said something about the dominance of the discourse of romantic love and how you never find a comedy transformation where Romeo and Juliet are idiots, or something like that. I said, aren't they always? Teach required clarification. I said Romeo and Juliet are bloody idiots. See, this is what happens when I contribute out loud, I say what I thinking.
I also said something with the correct level of wording that turned out to not be the answer teach was looking for, so it weren't my best day really.

So after lessons I went to the library and got some books out for this assignment.

I made a sonnet. I now need to make a good sonnet, some time before the presentation, which is the monday after next. I look forward to it, since it will be the last time I'll have to get up at 0600 until next college year.

Then I got the bus home.
This involved standing at the bus stop under the trees
and a pretty flower fell down and went right down my bra
and the pretty flowers make me itch
so, dignified, but I couldn't fish it out
and then an old guy with a walking stick walked up and asked me about buses
and I stuttered
so he started a conversation cause he used to stutter
and I'm standing there thinking, what is there to say about stuttering, and how do you actually say it?
and also thinking, itch itch itch

then he flagged down a bus solely to ask when the bus he actually wanted would get there.

I caught my bus too.

I discovered this morning that my disabled bus pass means I also get concession rate tickets on the bus, so I get a child rate single up until 0930 when my bus pass starts working. That's a whole £1 per ticket I'll be saving from that knowing. Win!

And on the way home I saw mum at the supermarket and we were :-) but she recognised I'm plodding through my go-home groove and waved me on my way. So I bought burgers and buns to put them in and went home.

Today is pretty thoroughly accomplished.

:-D
