Minor Torchwood complain

Got very bored. Started watching Torchwood. Ten minutes in to the first episode now.
... why does Gwen look weird?

quite it with the blinky shit
just cut between pictures, don't make them all wiggly wobbly. who even has tech that still does that? squiggly lines? I've never seen that on an actual TV. All that jumpy fuzzy wiggly shit, it just makes it massively annoying to look at as well as to hear.
honestly, if you think the viewer at home is going to be fooled by your fake news, that's just kind of depressing. But even so, there's ways of making it obviously fake that are simpler and cheaper. why waste time playing with this?

I'm only on episode one but it's still spoilers.
and I think I've figured out why everyone looks different. The lighting is different, the colors are different, I don't know why, but it's making everyone look weirdly photoshopped. And it's bugging me.

So, funnily enough, I was right the first time: I do not like RTD's writing, I do not like his idea of plots, I do not like this new 'Torchwood' with all the Torchwood-y bits taken out.
... now I have watched the first episode I will almost certainly watch more, because I'm stupid like that.
... the BBC will consider this Job Done. Drat, there's a reason to illegally download it if ever I heard one...

Today, I am chewing over cultural appropriation, specifically on using an idea I only know from wiki surfing to put a splash of color on a character in two words. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wabi-sabi
It's interesting, it's quick to write, it does interesting things in a SF 'verse.
... it's learned from wiki and I r dum about it.
... which is roughly how my character learned it too, but I'm not so sure that makes anything better.
