College again

Back to college again.
I have explored the new building and discovered where things are and how to get there. I just need to catch the 0735 bus and then sit a while before the 0900 lessons.

And then once I have done lessons I can have a vegan pizza and go look at things and do things if I want, or not-do and just go home. Either works. I can decide.

I would be kind of nice to not have to use up brave just to do routine things, but, I shall put my rainbows hat on and go be brave enough.

One down, 11 to go

I went to college. I went to Life Writing lesson. And I found the teacher that is my tutor this year who does not answer emails (he swears he answers every email he got, which is entirely possible, but difficult to fix).

Life Writing is going to annoy me. For much the same reason my chosen subject area, the one I've been doing since 2002, is annoying me. Today we discovered that the thing about biography and autobiography is that, while they attempt to be true, true is in fact impossible, so they are instead a fiction about a fictive self. Self is also a fiction. There is no true and no self and everything is subjective and secretly you probably don't even know what happened to you or what you think and feel about it. And then you try and use language to convey this fictional experience and it becomes mediated through these constructs called words and discourse and culture. And then it's very made up indeed.

And, okay, fine, for the same reason that eye witness reports are actually kind of rubbish, all that is probably true. Memory is fluid and language is a poor way of getting an experience from one brain to another.

But, the thing is, having noticed all that, what the hell use is it to know?

Still, all I have to do is turn up for the rest of the semester.

That and any useful dissertation at all, and I will have my degree, at which point I can say sod it and ignore the subject for the rest of my life if I particularly feel the need.
