Today's book I am getting rid of I'm not even going to bother finishing reading.

It is a bit over 4cm thick, 15cm wide, and 23cm tall, and it contains one (1) speaking female character that I ever found.

Read more... ) I just read the last bit of the book to see how it ended but I can't think of a way to get there from the beginning that isn't epically creepy.

So I am getting rid of this book.

And hoping the next one I read will wash the first one out.



Also? Even ignoring the gendered epic creep factor, it's just not very good. I mean, I started reading it, had a sleep, then forgot I was already reading a book and sat down to decide what to read next.

If they can't write women well, they just can't write well.

This morning's dream had a sub optimal cast, cause it featured Tom Cruise version pseudo-Lestat, and Christian Slater instead of Kane. Really, if I'm ordering up a cast, those are not the vampires and adjacents I am looking for.

But it was cool because vampires in this 'verse mostly made Renfields when they bit people too often, but sometimes, like, woke up psychic powers. Usually very flashy powers that got out of control and got everyone's attention where the vampire least wants it. Read more... )

So that's a dream that would take a lot of polishing up to become like useful plot.

But the bit where sometimes 'victims' turn into the powerful ones, that's handy.
