May. 6th, 2019 07:33 pmI keep on tripping up on fics where the point of view character is shorter than their partner, in defiance of all canonical measurements.
I mean sometimes there's a stack of different canons to choose from, but, sometimes it's really clear who the shorter one is, but they're currently about to kiss looking down and honestly the only down from their height is... not strictly speaking kissing.
I do it myself though. Power is up. ... also mathematically speaking more than half the world from my height, so it could be plain habit, but sometimes it's pure monkey brained insistence that Strong means Big, even if the strength in question is magic or superpowers.
So now I'm telling the internet rather than reading the kissing parts.
... I'm not actually that invested in the kissing parts, I want to see them sort out their actual differences, but, like, with kissing. This is not a distinction fanfic tags for and sometimes you end up reading tens of thousands of words when the resolution to their problems is all that canon doesn't matter any kore because they're shagging. I mean, sometimes things matter? That are not shagging? But apparently in many romances the only important part is figuring out if you fancy each other. *sigh*
... if anyone knows any marriage alliance fics that actually care about the law and politics stuff I'd love some recs...
Maybe I should just read history, like, the no kissing version. But it's amazing how many of those books you need to read to figure out it was about farmland and not just like big shoutings. Oh well.
