Apr. 20th, 2021 10:51 pmI am still reading books.
The books may not be long for my shelves.
I am wondering why the main character is the main character. Literally everyone around him is more interesting. There are some fascinating women off the edges of the story, but we're watching this guy, who just... endures. Awful things happen to him and he survives. Yaay? I guess? But he is only important on accident. Like, that's the point of the book, something something fate and prophecy tada. Whenever he makes a plan it will go wrong ans it is never what he does by deciding it that actually changes anything. And he never knows what is going on, people have to sit him down and explain what is going on, incouding what people's feelings are and how they're reacting etc.
I end up feeling like the author does not expect the reader to be very bright.
It's just... tiring and frustrating. There are characters that set out to make a difference, and then do make a difference, but they aren't our point of view guy. It's just a very grim world this guy is dragging through and I dont think I like it enough to keep dedicating shelf space.
yet I own six more books in this world.
guess I'll find out why if I keep reading.
... sometimes the why is habit tho.
I dont have much to say cause I'm reading long books.
