Thought on the Doctor and timelines
Jun. 30th, 2010 04:56 pmYou know in The Beast Below when the Doctor said that humanity all left Earth in the 29th century? Because of solar flares and the Earth being made uninhabitable for a few thousand years, like it said in the Ark in Space with space station Nerva.
And you know in Cold Blood when the Doctor said to the Silurians that they should wake up in a thousand years and make peace with humans?
Wouldn't they wake up when the earth is TOTALLY FRIED?
Not just empty but impossible to live on?
Because if he's set their alarm clock for 'apes evacuated, have a pretty planet of your own' then that's one set of story and motivation, but if he's set it for 'planet on fire, oops' then that's a whole rather uncomfortable other.
Either way, telling stories about when the lizard men are going to wake up isn't really going to help.
Silurians need to realise that they're not only not alone on their planet, they're not alone in the universe, and how they treat their nearest neighbours will be their calling card to all the rest. And they're really outnumbered.
And humans need to realise the exact same thing.
Without the Doctor keeping them alive, would humans even last long enough to evacuate?
