Pathfinder
Jan. 13th, 2023 03:05 pmToday I downloaded all the Players Guides for all the Pathfinder first edition Adventure Paths
just in case this disruption in gaming licences makes that tricky later.
I've got a lot of the parts on paper already, and the pdfs are still for sale,
but I went looking for a part that is out of stock on Paizo
and there are websites trying to charge £300
for a $19.99 story
(or $25 on paper, once).
I like print on demand in no small part because it makes prices like that look ridiculous.
I printed out three Players Guides
(in grayscale with ink saving, but it printed yellow and blue streaks on most pages anyway, and didnt print much of the pictures. But it did print the words as black on a white background, which is not at all how they look in pdf on screen, so I'm fine with this result)
I think I'm going to choose which adventure I read next by seeing which players guide captures my imagination.
I started reading the Mummy's Mask guide but I've kind of bounced already, and I'm only up to suggested team names.
I own all the parts to Mummy's Mask already, only one as pdf, and I have heard it on Big Finish, so I kind of know what will happen, though other adventures show it does more on a full Path than in a Legend.
I think what is putting me off is the pitch is
tomb raiding for fun and profit
go to not-Egypt and disturb the necropolis!
... I mean, on the one hand, adventurers are exactly the people who by repute would do that, but on the other...
*big sigh*
But the Players Guide does say
(in all of one line)
that you can play locals trying to get to things before the foreigners do
so that's
kind of better?
Right now I'm kind of wanting to invent Several teams and throw them all at the adventure with different motives, and then have some of them die gruesome deaths.
Probably keep the locals, and servants of Pharasma, alive.
But Adventures dont exactly work that way.
I also have most of Wrath of the Righteous
which I am not playing on xbox until reviews say it actually works, so if it's anything like Kingmaker I may not be playing.
... but I want to even if its a bit rubbish.
... latest review says it works okay on the very best sort of xbox? hmmm...
But I have the paper version, mostly, so I could read it if I wanted.
Reign of Winter looks interesting too.
... they all look interesting. which should be fun but is tricky to choose instead.
I've got so many rule books now. Can't say I understand Occult Adventures much yet, but it reads like a different game, like a step to the left or something.
Mostly I have a feeling a bit like hungry and a bit like bored but not fixed by eating or reading, so, onwards to the more interactive version of reading where I have to Do Something.
... or to thinking of Something to Do...
