When is Pathfinder not Pathfinder
Mar. 9th, 2023 08:59 pmI finished listening to the Pathfinder Legends big finish audio version of Mummy's Mask
and now I want to listen to something almost like that
but written by people who play Pathfinder.
I mean I know part of the problem is that they've chosen to keep the iconic characters in some kind of weird stasis where they never level up
but a lot is that they're just, like, fully ignoring how many options for magical healing there are even after Valeros gets over his interesting hangup about using magic healing, not bringing any divine casters along on a very undead heavy adventure, having a Ranger complain that magic isnt natural (when Rangers are also magic users), and,
my least favourite,
having the Rogue get caught by pretty much every trap,
so the guys can rescue her.
Every time Valeros leads the way in exploration I keep wanting to yell at them that they deserve every trap they get
except somehow
despite Valeros the fighter going in front
it is still Merisiel that gets the traps
falls out the pyramid
loses an eye
and spends like a third of the adventure path with one eye, because this is the sort of adventure that knows regenerate is vaguely possible, but doesnt bring any appropriate medical options.
It's way more frustrating now I know more of the rules.
So I'm stuck in this
like that but not like that
tell me the real story
kind of mood.
I can also continue with reading the adventure path and tell myself a different story
but
still displeased.
Also am having that grumpy feeling kind of like hungry and kind of like bored but no input is going to fix it.
Should write. But writing too vague.
Well the adventure paths were going to narrow it down.
I think the graverobbing for fun and profit adventure needs a very particular angle to stay interesting to me. Can be, if it's layers of empires and their gods, and people negotiating their connection to their ancestral past when the culture has changed so much.
Not so much when imported iconics stomp all over the sands.
