RPG rules, race and gender

Have been poking rules threads for Pathfinder.

Tieflings and Aasimar are Very Gender due to the possibility of random rolling hermaphrodite or androgenous on racial trait tables

but they're also very problem, for reasons including but not limited to
you can roll hermaphrodite for tieflings, blood of fiends, but not aasimar, blood of angels
and
they're the same tables where you could roll
for example
eyestalks, or tentacles, or smelling of flowers.

They're the tables of notably non human features, and they put hermaphrodite and androgynous on there.

... every discussion thread I've seen also ends up an argument about if when intersex is the preferred term, given they're talking not entirely human beings, and they need to distinguish between different sorts.

Also no other race random rolls their genitals that I have noticed, so, that's a Choice.




But all that said, I keep designing characters in my head, for instance he/him tieflings with K cups and a tail that blushes at the prehensile tip, or they/them aasimar that keep everyone guessing what's under the robe.

Or they/them humans that get to meet a world of wondrous variety. With wings.



It's kind of like how there's Pathfinder rules for mixed race characters that let you effectively build your own 'race' and custom math it, as long as they're a bit human and build on human point levels, which is very handy potentially, but. The specific rulebook. Is called Bastards of Golarion.

Which is a bit Problem.



There's better ways to do this.



But I still kind of like the idea that people influenced by Outsiders are configured differently often enough it's worth noting in the rules.

Or that tieflings are fully customiseable, not just the boring computer game versions with a choice of three horns.



... or aasimar having Holy Symbol fingerprints. You'd get one of Cayden Cailean's leaving beer mug prints everywhere. Teensy bit difficult to suggest forensics are mistaking you for someone else. except another one of Cayden's of course...



RPG races are Probelm all the way down, and I'm not sure Ancestry and Heritage fixes it.
... Pathfinder having moved on to a new edition do make clear they are attempting to Fix though.
