Aug. 8th, 2024 03:05 pmToday: feeling mostly tired sleepy but still not getting many hours of sleep.
Yesterday: Did Cleaner tasks then played computer games until late night.
... yes I am aware of the connection...
I am not having much fun with Wrath of the Righteous at the moment.
I like games because they give me feelings of accomplishment, choice, and power.
But I had to drop the difficulty down to 'normal' and at that level the characters can romp through on automatic until they suddenly hit a weird fight, so accomplishment is not clicking. I can turn the difficulty back up but then I lose a lot so accomplishment is also not clicking. So that's not the most fun.
I chose once at the start to do a lawful aeon playthrough, but that means I keep on 'having to' choose things I am finding increasingly vile. Chaotic didnt creep me out this much. To play Aeon Lawful there's a lot of death penalty and not a lot of room for redemption, and it's making me feel gross.
As for power, it's giving me more of a feeling of being puppeted by the Myth this time.
Conclusion: I shall have to switch to the Angel Good game and stick it out on Core difficulty to get the good feels back.
But today I don't wanna, so I'm poking rulebooks and imagining how I'd pack for the portal to Golarion.
... yes I am aware how long I'd survive that.
... but I keep finding ways to be stupendously rich there, because the exchange rate of salt for gold or even better telescopes for gold is spectacular.
This science toy telescope https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9513079 is probably worth 4,000 gold pieces on Golarion https://www.aonprd.com/EquipmentMiscDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Telescope%20(x50) though it might not be suitable for the listed tasks. It costs £5.40. I could buy a hundred of those and not even have an all my eggs in one basket problem. 400,000gp would improve my survivability radically.
Of course then I'd have a logistics of shipping problem, but that's in the best traditions or DnD.
There's nothing as low magnification or as heavy as a Spyglass on argos, so it's hard to do direct comparisons. I'd want binoculars for actual adventuring purposes. But assorted high street telescopes will probably give you the most easy money once you get there.
I'm sure I used to have a couple of pocket things that would count as a Spyglass but I can't find them today. Maybe they went wrong years ago, many things are in my memories not my storage.
There's a lot of camping equipment solutions for solar charging your gadgets and some that do hand crank charging for absolute emergencies. But there is absolutely no way to stat up your average cell phone for Pathfinder. It's just too good.
GURPS rules would cover it. GURPS rules expect worldhopping with all your stuff. But there's so many different assumptions from the get go there it'd be a difficult trick to stat Golarion in GURPS.
... unless someone has done that already.
