Well that was disturbing. Most of the episode was a big running around corridors thing of seen it before. And we never got the moment where Rory mentioned having been an Auton, though the Doctor called him out by auton name. And then we get the thing where only one of each of everyone survives, which is too tidy. But the phone call to his kid bit was excellent. And I knew Amy was being wrong about which one was the Doctor so I kind of covered my eyes at all of that bit, but it was still excellent to see that. And then at the end the TARDIS trip stabilises the Flesh so it's an independent person now. Great. Can wander off and have a life.

And then it got creepy disturbing.

granted the melting but still sentient Flesh heap or the eyes in the wall asking Why was pretty disturbing itself, but it didn't leave me all creeped out and... er, actually kind of behind-the-sofa-y.

Everyone thinking Amy's shirt being the same all season was a clue: +1 bonus points!
Everyone thinking the Doctor that died was the Ganger Doctor: they had Amy think that, it won't be true.
The guesses that Amy was asleep and the episodes were all a dream: half true. Amy was asleep.

So pregnant Amy got kidnapped in 1969 and this Flesh copy has been travelling with them ever since.

That means this flesh copy was stabilised, like the others that travelled in the TARDIS.

That makes it really really creepy when the Doctor kills her.
Or melts her, at least. Ganger!Doctor held hope he'd survive the melting. We could have two Amy again at some point.

But the really really bad part is Amy in a box pregnant screaming. It has the worst aspects of buried alive and something bad going to happen to the baby. That was really really really ungood.

Also, I have said before, SF doing pregnancy stories worries me, cause it's never 'yaay we has a baby' it's always all body horror parasite screaming and wondering what the baby will be. Not cool. Very much not cool.

I will think happy thoughts: having an avatar body running around having adventures while your getting ever more awkward body stays in medical care seems very convenient. Except for the being totally vulnerable thing. That's... creeping me out very extra much.

You know what's messing with my head? This isn't kid fears. I don't think there's 8 year olds scared of being pregnant in a box. This is a different fear set. Someone is using a woman as a baby incubator without her knowledge or consent, stuck in a box being used, alone, and it's very very very bad.

Hopefully she was pregnant with Rory baby first and it isn't a creepy Silent baby or something. The baby should be non-creepy. Babies are good.

Kidnapping is bad.

So... we have a real Doctor all season, probably, and a real Rory all the time, in as much as someone rebooted from plastic is real, which this episode says is for all intents and purposes completely real. And we have, by that rule, a real Amy, who just got melted. And another real Amy, who is in a box in a very bad situation.

I had wondered about there being two Rory still, the Roman one still out there and them just connected from being the same person. I hadn't wondered about two of Amy. Despite two of Amy being a big feature of the comedy bit.

It is really not comedy right now.

That thing where the website had those pictures in the middle of the week and said there would be a big reveal in the final moments of this week, that was kind of lying, yesno?

I don't think I have anything sensible to say about this episode except: really creeped out by that ending.

ETA: Watching the Confidential, six minutes in and the writer is saying that isn't the real Amy and isn't a person and isn't hurt by cutting the signal. Er, he just spent two episodes proving the contrary, how can he still say that?

Short bit of proving the Doctor never promised to be safe. Er, this needs proved?

The subtitles are winding me up. I watched last week's ep with the subs on and they've got the timing all wrong so you read things waaaaay before they're said, but mostly the words are right. The Confidential usually has the problem where the words are plausible but not correct. It's irritating. I wish to work on just these subtitles. Sometimes you need a fan, general knowledge not sufficient.

Rewatching bits on the Confidential: The Doctor fanboying himself is hilarious. And doing all the snips of other Doctors was great. Also Moff is pointing out that they had Doctors from all the way back to 1, which I hadn't noted because of course you would, but I if this was back in the first new season you certainly wouldn't. They've sort of woven the edges back together. And now they get to have niggly fanboy arguments in the Confidential. Win.

It was really well done.

... the bits on the Confidential where they tell you what you just saw and point out which bits were really well done kind of wind me up.

But when something on the TV really creeps me out I poke it to see how it did it, hence the Confidentials watching.

The disguarded flesh pile is so very very creepy.
... it's like the abzorbaloff only not rubbish. it's a bunch of different people melted into one.
and they're still in there a bit. *shudder*

They redesigned the Oval Office set to be the acid vat the workers melt in. *blinks*

CGI monsters are still not as cool as monsters you could actually thump.

Monsters based on Alice in Wonderland are kind of win though.

I kind of like the 'being almost the Doctor' thread because it's picking up on the whole Rose gets the spare Doctor thing without, you know, Rose. Would Rose have known in similar circumstances? No she would not.
But her 10.5 is a bit Donna too so... yeah, not the same but still cool.

I kind of like this exploring what the important bits of being human is, every time the answer comes up, acting like a decent person, or possibly just deciding to be a person. Other definitions tend to rule some people out.

Also it's the surviving proper Doctor that remembers what Amy said about the Doctor inviting them to his death. All the secrets are at least a bit out.

I like that the Ganger!Doctor isn't the only one pressing the button to explode them all. It's like with Donna and the volcano. It's a bit creepy to just do all the deciding.

Songvid about The Doctor Kills People A Lot. Er, yeah. Or is it about the Doctor seeing a lot of death cause it includes his friends and him too. Hrm.
Hang on, the music is about trying to kill the pain with a needle?
...

Oh, if Amy was tricked about which is real Doctor, it was real Doctor who pushed her around. huh.

And, the Doctor will save the day in a good and kind way? Er, well, he'll always try...

Anyways. It's interesting sometimes watching the Confidential because they'll tell us what we just saw but I don't always agree with them.

ETA2: Amy got swapped before we saw Amy got kidnapped by the Silence, you can tell because Eyepatch Lady is from original Amy seeing her and ganger!Amy getting it muddled in. She saw Eyepatch Lady in the door before she was kidnapped. But that was the first time she was seen, so Amy in the warehouse saying she is pregnant at the end of the first episode is probably original Amy. Somewhere in that time we didn't see at all, the big gap where they investigated the Silence, she stopped being original Amy. So it was ganger Amy that got the recorder in her hand, so that won't help track down original Amy. Probably.

That big gap where the Doctor got captured and everyone else ran around doing things is now full of STORY and so quite annoying.

I wondered if the Doctor putting on a show of his own death might be for the benefit of whoever captured Amy. If that were the case she'd have to be replaced before the first episode began. But there was no evidence of that, there was only weirdness in the second episode. So it was original Amy that saw the Doctor.

We still don't know enough to know anything :-)
