beccaelizabethWas reading some Tony/Steve Avengers fic, which is ridiculous because I've never so much as watched the Captain America movie and the Avengers movie doesn't even exist yet and I've never read Marvel comics and yet I 'ship them so much... and then I realised:
Brilliant genius scientist, good with machines and not so much good with people

Military guy, charismatic and self sacrificing and yet personally kind of awkward with people
... I have 'shipped this before. Er, kind of a lot.
though this time there's added Highlander style goodness with the time shift, culture clash, meeting of values formed in different eras side.
And of course I don't know if the summary I just wrote fits actual canon, but from the stuff I'm liking, I have a pattern here.
