dreaming transformation
Apr. 22nd, 2012 12:54 pmI kept on waking and sleeping last night (the plumbing in one of these flats has turned into some sort of air horn) so dreams kept on elaborating. It was pretty cool.
The one where I was stuck in a very small lift with a potentially cute guy I think I'll keep for next time I get stuck in a lift anxiety dreams. It was way more fun than usual. The walls closing in is easier to cope with when it turns into hugs. Unusually for me it was also about someone from reality, not just TV or actors. I feel vaguely like my brain did RPF without asking me. Embarrassing.
I also dreamed we were shapeshifters. I turned into this awesome dragony pteranodon thingy called Kiai. Well, it was more of an eagle scream noise, but if you have to write it down that's a good way. It wasn't the usual long tail dragon with four little legs, it was more like Torchwood's pet, but with a crossways fan instead of a rudder on its head, and secretly long legs curled up until they just looked like little claw feet, but could lash out to human proportions.
It was a lovely dark red shading to black on the body, with gold claws and pointy beak. Lovely pretty phoenix colors. The dream paused to design the robe I could wear as a human to get the same sort of shading. Gold around the front edge of the hood shading to black, and then black shading to good deep red. Black around the front fastenings, red around the back. Gold cuffs like the hood. It was weird, I was having the usual action flying around monsters fighting dream, and then it paused to get the fashion right.
I got hired to do security and I could turn human to chat with people and then launch up and fly around the convention hall to get a grand view, and also to nab the unauthorised drone cameras that were flying around recording private conversations up there.
And then there was a bit with a bomb and some idiots having evacuated the building but not the ladies loos.
At this point in the dream I froze time and ran around in the space between tick and tock to fix that but since basically all the important plot elements ignored that and it's way too powerful I think I'll just drop that element.
So I was trying to finish the evacuation but there were terrorists with machine guns, which dragon hide can pretty much ignore, and then one of my opponents pulled a really old blade out and there was a katana fight. And the bomb was still counting down. Turning it off was a job for experts, who had been interrupted by the machine guns. I had to get it out of the building and fly it up to a safe distance, but we didn't know the yield so I'd just have to fly as high as I could. It would probably blow me up too, and while dragons are bulletproof, I didn't know if the bomb was going to be too much for me.
So, you know, basically pretty awesome dream.
Plus it could totally work as an urban fantasy plot bunny. I don't think I've read any about shapeshifting dragons yet. And it had the romance built in, with mating flights and everything.
