More Dead Like Me
Jul. 1st, 2005 11:55 pmThe other thing about Dead Like Me is it kind of mixes in the spy plots. I mean every week they have to get dressed up and sneak in and mix with people they've never met and find a name and touch a person. So you get the whole undercover thing going, all that spy work, sneaking around. And then you get some kind of touching human connection bit, when they meet, why that person has that reap. And then you get something inventive and strange for the death. That was the other thing about ep 7, that wasn't terribly inventive, or strange.
ep 8
Rube "I could wear a dress, would that be entertaining enough for you?"
Daisy "I'd actually really like to see that."
lol
For some reason today I'm listening to less of the episode than usual. It keeps making me cringe with anticipated embarrassment.
The little kid reaper, the one that takes pets? I don't like that twist. I mean it says that pets have souls, and that it takes a whole human to take pet souls. And for that matter it says a little kid can get stuck being undead and a reaper. And how would he get chosen as a reaper? You get the job because the reaper that reaps you has reached quota. Did the last pet reaper just happen to temp as a person reaper? No, because if that were possible then plague division wouldn't be stuck with 'nothing but time'. So the simple existence of that kid messes up the whole scheme, and the job he does trivialises the job the other reapers do. So this annoys me. And it was all very well when he turned up only the once, but here he is again.
Yeah, I don't like this Rube teaches school bit. I don't know, like it makes bits of his story small? Don't know, it just annoys me.
Urgh, now Reggie is following the kid reaper. Is he going to be even more in the story? That will annoy. Oh and we're meant to believe he'd say "Yeah I've heard of her." about George - Reapers are used to the whole secret identity thing, aren't they? And he might be a kid, but he just said he'd been dead for seven years, so he isn't actually a kid any more. No way he would do that. And why the hell would Reggie even ask? That whole thing I don't buy.
Also, you know how everyone treats George like a pretty girl? You remember Un-George, Millie, the undead one? THe one George reckoned looked like her life had included a whole lot of crack? No way she'd get this kind of treatment. And that is who everyone else sees.
Introducing Joy's mother just so they can have arguments in front of Reggie? Er, more of the same much?
Ick, boyfriends. Bored now.
er, if I'd been listening to any of those sections I might have an opinion on him, but, bored now.
Frogs again. Death frogs. I thought the one in the tank was actually a toad. I mean it was the one guarding death, not the one who broke it. *shrugs*
I don't know, bits of this are starting to irritate me.
This week everything is liable to irritate me. Knowing this I should probably save more episodes for later.
