beccaelizabeth: Hat made of rainbows (rainbow hat)

Today was the fifth annual Norwich Pride parade. And I went. And I was in a parade :-D
And then my mum was in the audience so I stopped being in the parade and went and said hello. She had brought my brother, who was eager to go find somewhere much quieter for a bit. He's more autistic than I am so parades must be even more difficult.

I went to the Pride Picnic, which has music and some dancing and lots of people in all their rainbows gathering for the parade. Mum did not arrive until the parade time two hours later so she didn't get as far as the park. It was pretty though. I like how people are all various. There's people with rainbow facepaints and glitter tattoos, and they were selling rainbow flags with a smile face on, so I have one of those now. Points for being most committed to their look, in very hot weather, go to the people in the fur, like there was a wolf and a cat and two dragons I think. There was a guy wearing fur tiger stripe trousers, VERY TALL platform boots, and body paint. So half of him was dressed for any temperature. Someone wearing all over rubber with a full face mask... did not so much seem to be for this weather. Long Matrix coat is also a good look that probably took some stamina to wear today. Leather kilts seemed better. Kilts at least have airflow. The guy wearing probably a skirt (possibly a belt) seemed to have the right idea in these temperatures. There were people in very frilly dresses and hair several feet tall. Also I saw a rainbow bustle that I wants, all frills and gauze and lovely. Many many looks.

I had a rainbow hat, and socks, and bag, and flag, and umbrella. Also bracelets and more bracelets and some bracelets made of dice. I got compliments on the ones made of dice. I like today, I wear same usual things as always and people say compliments.

I was a bit late starting because I can't find skirts I thought I owned so I ended up trying to fix my nice new blue one with sewing. I managed 15 stitches without attaching it to my fingers. I win.

There were all the ages at the picnic and the parade. I like the toddlers, they make walking look like winning every step. I guess past a certain point olders do that too. There were lots of kids, including ones handing out rainbow cake. And people blowing bubbles, which have rainbows of course. There was a guy handing out cards for his hula hoop fitness course, and he brought many rainbow hoops. There was one very bendy lady using a hula hoop.

Mostly there were people holding hands and smiling, or walking around smiling, or trying to stop kids running away but in a basically smile sort of way.

When it was time to turn into a parade they invited people with wheels or mobility issues to go up the front, so they not get left behind I guess, and there were quite a lot of wheels people. I like how much room there is for flags on chairs. There were also deaf people and some sign language interpreters, I saw them chatting away with their hands right in front of the speakers. And in the parade there was a banner for Disability Pride from the place that does payroll for my employee.

Many and various and diverse people. Yaays. And then there were so many they had a new plan for the parade, where they went around in a big circle and not just up to the Forum. I had a plan where I would stop being a parade and go stand somewhere I could watch everyone else, but because my brother wanted a quiet bit I did not do that. But I saw the people lining up to be a parade, so I know already there are very many and lots of flags and banners and things.

And also me.

:-D

So then I showed my brother the new kids section of the TV and Movie Store, and then I went and had a ten minute sit down in the library, because hot and tired day. Got back and mum had bought Ramones mugs because fan. Then she spent rest of day being all "that's silly", but I told her, is not silly, is fan. Is more fun that way. My brother got DVDs he wanted. And mum bought me a new rainbows bracelet (because obviously you cannot have too many).

Mum wanted to stay and listen to the musics at the Forum party, but I had been there more hours and my brother was not wanting to stay, so it was home time. I would have liked to sort it so she could stay but I can't look after my brother cause he doesn't mind me at all and he's much faster than me so he kept zooming off. He went to HMV, I went to Waterstones to pick up my books, and we met and went on the bus home.

I have :-D

... also possibly total exhaustion. But I'm home now so that's okay.

I went to ours and I was out of the house for 8 hours (!) and I did not die! And most of me wasn't that burned either! And there were people with whom I more or less communicated!
