Wait, I just saw somebody defending/praising the racial diversity in Highlander.
... *blinks a lot* ...
I love Highlander, but it is pretty epically white, plus the black guy dies problem does apply even in a show where everyone who isn't Mac probably dies, on account of percents.


To do this argue right I'd have to do counting. And to do that I'd have to rearrange my hardware so I can even play those DVDs. So it's just a guess from memory, but seriously, sooooooo white.

Well, at least there's some diversity? It is very...British Isles-oriented at times, oddly enough.

the half the time it was filming in Paris it could get the tax breaks and finance arranged with France if it hired EU actors from anywhere, and British ones spoke English. So yeah, lots of Brits.

There are Black and Asian people in Britain. And France. I don't think the percents came out realistic even for the 90s, but I haven't done the math.

Well, Mac is Scottish, Fitz is English, I think Amanda is English (Norman? French?), there was an Irish character, and I think Kenny was Scottish? Rebecca, was that her name, I think was English.

Richie had a sort of Irish-sounding name, but was Canadian; there was an American slaveowner who may have been meant to be of Anglo-Saxon heritage, I forget. Of course, Methos only acted English.

I guess it's understandable in that, "Godzilla always destroys Tokyo," way, and there were a good number of other characters, from lots of different places, but there was a bit of a, "historical ethnicities of the British Isles and other lands around the North Sea," default that they fell back on.
