Is funny reading the long explains for the new thing
https://www.serialbox.com/serials/556fb93cada6e270f8e264d6
Tremontaine , a serial in Ellen Kushner's Swordspoint 'verse
cause it seems to take a lot of words to say it without fanspeak
but it's a virtual season with podfics.
... prose serial fiction written collaboratively on the writer's room model where everyone writes an episode to fit in an agreed arc, and then there's audios.
I just downloaded the first episode. but I can't use the headphones and the furniture tools so will listen later.
I was just thinking, fans have done a lot of work on like structures and infrastructure. Challenges and virtual seasons and fic exchanges. Podfic and fanart and fanfic. The way fandom does things and the way for-money does things has overlap but some of that I know is fans wandering back moneywards.
Fans just get together and figure out how to do things because they like doing.
And it adds up to a lot of figuring out.
