Flash season 3 christmas episode

beccaelizabethHave I mentioned how much I hate stories where the only reason people do things is mind control?
Because it keeps being relevant that the only reason people do things is mind control.
Also, dealing with mental illness by calling it possession and leaving people to be on their unsupervised merry way?
*sigh*
Barry didn't have to suffer consequences because now they're all hiding something.
So that's boring.
And the whole season relies on everyone making the same assumption about punctuation
which given that fans made the other guess immediately
is boring.
It all felt like shuffling people around.
Julian as Doctor Alchemy, anthropological researcher, should be interesting, but no.
I'm going to continue to resent that waste of possibility.
Wally getting the suit felt weird as a Christmas present, like it's a family sweater instead of a new uniform.
HR continues annoying. Cheerleading but annoying.
Knowing the end of the season takes all the juice out of the flash forward
except I remain annoyed at fridging as a motivator
even when it's weird and backwards like this.
Also the rules of time travel make even less sense when they make a distinction between past present and future like that, because hello, wherever you stand, the future starts there. Having stood on that street trying to change it is precisely like trying to change his mom's death. And weren't we doing a thing about consequences?
Eh, maybe they'll be clearer on that later.
What else... if someone put my name on a lease without asking I'd be annoyed not romanced. That's like legal papers he hasn't shown her. What even is that?
Also, about money: even in the revised timeline, Barry owns STAR labs and all its assets, which apparently include the Hall of Justice and who knows what else.
So I'm actively annoyed he doesn't try and get the labs going *as labs*. That would be a system solution, a scaled up solution. He could release information about metas in a scientific and accurate way, instead of just letting the headlines define them. And he could employ a bunch of people.
I mean maybe, probably, STAR is some variety of financially screwed after the explosion, yet he has money to do grand gestures and presumably employ his friends, so why does it stop there?
Because that's what the story is about.
But he is not using his resources and it annoys me.
Um, this show appears to annoy me?
It's the mental health stuff, it can't really come back from that, it's a super bad model and does nothing good even for the narrative let alone the representation.
I keep rewriting it in my head like what I would do if I inherited STAR labs from my supervillain husband. Which obviously the tv is not going to be about.
But the All Star Squadron is a name they could put to work.
... ideas, I has them. no complains, unless in form of my own fiction...
