This was a good one. The Doctor needs spare parts so he goes to a 'garage', a planet that is one giant transit hub. This lands him in the middle of a crisis in temporal technology, the 'time reavers', weapons that stretch out your experience of a single moment.
It has fun with lots of potential applications. Well, quite a lot are weapons and awful unending terror, so fun isn't quite the word, but the story thinks things through. People who stretched a happy moment and will now do anything to get back there, people who use it to make even mild pain unbearable, and people who just plain want more time.
And in the end the Doctor uses the whole lot on himself! He experiences a length of time he won't name, just him, sitting and thinking. No more running. He says after that he feels older. But they found a rather good way to properly put him in danger. It's a threat of consequences you know would be awful for him, but we'd never have heard of because it was all subjective time. Fits in.
I liked the plot and what the motivations turned out to be. Everyone made sense, even the awful ones.
And there were funny moments, as there should be.
And Donna saves the day with a mastery of paperwork, more or less.
... okay, I wanted more from that aspect, but she applied paper correctly, which was fun.
