Just now got back from seeing Serenity
wah!
grrr
yaaaay!
mix those up fairly randomly and =me
I will have thoughts. Right now I'm still having reactions. Top of the list, want to see it again!
Except it took me this long to get to see it once, so, don't know how likely that is.
Also, my local cinema remains tiny and rubbish. The screen had dirt on it, and also is made up of lots of tiny holes for some reason, which makes the film look pixilated. And it is only about three or four times as big as my TV anyway. And the sound system is crappy. My brother has better sound. And, granted, my brother has cinema quality surround sound, but thats the point, the cinema doesn't.
Want to go see it on a proper big screen with seats that work much better.
/grumpy
but the film was brilliant
and just to be clear, I'm not technically a Firefly fan. I saw it, but I never could get into it. Don't know why, it just didn't grab me. Now, am very grabbed. Am probably going to order the DVDs, I'm that grabbed. This film was brilliant.
Can't stop the signal - much better ending than blow up the death star. I mean seriously - by the end of the film they'd enlightened a fanatic for the enemy, made him see why he not being so smart. Works much better than blowing people up.
Its also a very writer ending. I mean words have power, images have power, and people that are going to spend all their lives making words and images are going to be focused on that power.
But the fighting parts worked real well too. Really well. Lots of kaboom.
I continue to dislike the death of characters, especially in a format where they won't be right back. I'm afraid that, with the cumulative effect of this year at DC on top of all that, my reaction was to bounce out the story and get mad at the writer. But in this case I can see precisely why he did it, and it worked, and each death had a moment and a reaction and was written properly. So I don't hate the writer this time. But I continue to dislike it. People don't actually have to die to make it a hero story.
Aside from that, lots of yaay. Lots of great lines. Loved the ending. Loved the beginning. Lots of parts made me jump, lots of parts scary, loved the characters. Mal especially - that is no Han Solo. Han was shiny and idealistic compared to this guy. Mal has to make hard choices and live with them. Got to love that.
Did I mention I love this film?
sequel! sequel now!
*sigh*
this is why I prefer being a fan of TV shows - I'd only have to wait a week or two.
