Mar. 24th, 2018 08:07 amToday I have been reading about the Pathfinder goddess Desna, whose symbols are the butterfly and compass star. Goddess of dreams, Lady Luck, Queen of the North Star. Her temples are roadside shrines with interesting travel tips on the walls, or a few observatories. Dreams, Luck, Stars, Travellers, Chaotic Good. If I have to pick a Pathfinder deity we could probably get along.
Desna is also worshipped as one face of a Janiform deity, the other being the genderfluid deity of Nature, Weather and the Sea. Trvellers and sailors covered, sky and stars.
If I could bring a deity then Janus has much to recommend, and symbols of staff and key as well as the two faces. I've got a staff.
Being a cleric comes with a lot of rules though, so importing a god is a bit tricky.
Also today I rolled a character to be me and got awesome stats. And I went over my goals and ethics and so forth and came up Neutral Good, which is a bit of a surprise, but the whole axis system is defined different than in the Renshai books, and probably than in other editions. It's a weird flat thing to put a character in. But, probably not Chaotic Neutral, probably Neutral Good, there's a paradigm shift.
I haven't decided which character class to take and might design one of each.
I don't feel like hitting problems though, hitting things until they stay down doesnt seem to solve anything.
Desna clerics use a starknife, which is like if someone looked at a chakram and thought lhmmm, needs more daggers'. It's like a compass star you can throw. And possibly have come back to you.
It doesn't seem very practical. Sharp everywherw, with extra sharp bits sticking out, and spinning. That's just asking to lose body parts.
Still, healing spells, might as well.
Give me a good stick any day, though.
Desna priests wear white and blue. It says white in the wiki, but that's not very practical for travellers. They must have a cleaning spell.
I have a blue robe/dress already. Also t shirts with butterflies on, I think. Might have sent that one away.
This is not a very practical endeavour but I did learn more about myself by trying to figure out which made up gods I could be having with, so that's always something.
Interesting reading.
