I just read a story that got the characters from enemies to lovers
by putting the enemy in a coma for ten years.
the good guys talked to him while he was unconscious, and then once he woke up, they were in the habit?
and then the story ends with a kiss.

I do not think the author is at all aware how absolutely creepy this is.

I mean, the story seems to think it is being sweet happy families?
just around someone who doesn't talk
or indeed move
for a decade.
... how did that seem like a good idea?

I mean folding someone in to the family so you can get a happily ever after is clearly a good thing
but I think it is somewhat important that they're
you know
not a draught excluder?
vaguely aware?
possibly slightly consenting to the process?

I mean only medical stuff happened while they were out, that part wasn't plumbing the depths of sleeping beauty weirdness, but they never got the chance to say 'no thank you' to a single thing going on around them, and when they woke up everyone kept treating them the same, which admittedly involved chatting away at them, but, well,
what the actual fuck?

people are not props
and for relationships to form they have to both/all be, you know, there.

I thought that was a bit obvious.

but apparently no.

you know, sometimes the weird kink stuff weirds me out far less.
I mean, you at least know where you are with that.

but hey, fanfic is free and one should not criticise.

... I don't know what this feeling is, it's kind of like raised eyebrow forever, but everything that actually happened was sweet except for the thing where it happened to an unconscious person.

I mean they even had the wife leave from realising her husband preferred to spend time with her rival
and make a nice concession speech
to a guy in a coma who had been unconscious the whole time.



I guess the story wants to say that sometimes all you have to do to be loved is exist?

It's so much easier to have relationships when the other person can't react! ! !


...Actually gave me an idea of Enemies to Lovers that involves physical injury requiring a long healing process with help, like physical therapy or something, and since villain has no support network, heroes are there to assist at least. Which villain would accept with less than graceful attitude, I should imagine, but then long months of getting used to each other and learning small things about each other in times of extreme or at least trying circumstances

can't believe I should disclaim this but: everyone is conscious and functional throughout the story
