I have finished watching last season of Legends of Tomorrow
and it is mad brilliant.
It's like nothing else on TV and it tells stories no other show could tell.

... and some days you could argue there's a good reason for that
but
it takes all the best bits of a sprawling crossover comics universe and then just
really commits
and runs with them.

This season had some elements I was less fond of.
I felt Leo was weirdly underused.

But the interplay between people and powers
where it's always the emotional payoff that comes through
that stuff really works.

Also it kind of helps that there is actual diversity around here.

Bisexual Captain who shags her way through time and falls for a rules follower in a suit
has all the good bits of story seen before
with more ladies kicking arse.

Constantine got to flirt with basically everybody.

And Leo is a sweetheart with a husband now.

Mick got his moments in the spotlight and dealt with huge emotional stuff
as well as keeping his fire Thing while keeping it so well under control he just hands back power when he had it.

I might sometimes like Nate, which is an achievement given my starting point with him.

Amaya and her family are great
and hope and love and faith all pay off.

And Ray, who is so much the paladin optimist he's sometimes treated as the joke, actually saves the day by being so ridiculously optimistic and all around good
like, at one point he invents a super weapon to kill someone otherwise invulnerable
and then he feels really bad about it and invents a cure and goes back for her
and that goes about as well as you'd think
except
actually
with a bit of a run up
it works

there's none of that stupid focus on 'hard choices' that really just means 'solving things with ultra violence'
they go all the way to the other pole and
like
care bear stare
fix things with the power of love

and beebo
... I did not think initially that beebo was funny
but
end of season
beebo is absolutely hilarious.

"Worst orgy ever"

I just... no other show would go there
and here
it's the big emotional payoff of everyone's season arcs.

This is a show that is genuinely about love and redemption, and running around in crazy costumes knowing how daft they look and just... going all out with it. As well as spectacular FX and every superpower any other show in their 'verse does, only more often.

It is having so much fun.

And sometimes I get frustrated with what they (don't) do with the time travel aspect
but a lot more of the logic makes sense after this season (in as much as this show has logic)
and they did things that seemed reasonable to me much more often

so

I really do love this show.

I could get into more detail with episodes and characters and start picking on bits, but, I am happy right now and this story made me happy, so I'm going to just go with that for a bit.

Also I am going to go to bed, because my sleep is backwards and I finished four loads of laundry as I watched. I only have one left right now. But need to sleep at some point. so.

I like Legends of Tomorrow
:-D
