Now this one was excellent.

Very Owen and Andy, very themey and Torchwood. Needs these characters in this setting.

Spoiler details under the cut, I recommend listening to this one though.

I especially like about the ending that I keep turning it over in my head and I'm not 100% sure who is right. It's really unlikely in Doctor Who that time travel could work the way she says it will, changing what you lived through and getting a do over is not what it's for there, but there's Turn Left, so it's not 100% sure. And she never does a tidy villain reveal speech. So you can see why Owen believes she's tricked him, but there's still a tiny chance they've actually screwed things over the worst.

Which is very Torchwood institutionally and individually, really.

Owen getting addicted to what Andy's girlfriend can give him is a very powerful idea when he's had so much taken from him at this point in his story. Owen screwing up and then scrambling to cover it up makes you really think about the power Torchwood has and the corruption they can cover up. And there was a point half way through when I couldnt think of a satisfying ending within the constraints of canon, because either he's going to get away with it or the rest of Torchwood find out and just decide to let it slide, and how is either of those a good ending? But they pulled a much better ending out of the pieces, one I didnt guess, so I like it very well.

The more audios Big Finish set in the time Owen was dead the longer they imply that time lasted. Especially if the whole Owen and Andy friendship happens there and then this whole girlfriend arc, either it speed runs super fast or a bunch of time has to happen.

But the stories have been so consistently good that at this point I wouldnt mind if they imply a spare year went in there. It's DW and TW, time is relative.

So I liked that Andy likes Owen enough he wants him to meet his new girlfriend and worries how they'll get along. Being pub quiz friends with Torchwood is grand. And I do like that Owen likes Andy well enough he just decides if he's happy he doesn't need to know a few details.

Because that comes back to bite them but it's very human.

Owen being spiky and apparently not liking people is easy, Owen being spiky and secretly caring a hell of a lot is a harder balance.

Also they're very good audio actors.

Also the story is dark, with death and using people and relationships being described as about using people, but it's sort of mid range Torchwood not the extra twisted stuff, so that's a bit easier to revisit than some of the other Owen stories.

I liked this very much and will very probably listen again plenty in future.
