beccaelizabethI watched "7th voyage of Sinbad", a christmas present DVD. The plot and acting are kind of terrible, but the monsters are excellent. Skeleton and cyclops and dragon, and the cyclops fights the dragon, and then there's the cutests monster *ever*, baby roc! It looks just little and yellow and fuzzy, like a new easter chick, only, like, twenty feet tall and with two vulture heads. So, um, not little, technically. But it was all stumbling around and just hatching and it was so *cute*. But then they speared it! Noooo! And then they sat around in the nest roasting bits of really cute monster! But then the big Roc found out and everyone got bit! Hah!
And at the end when the dragon got shot I was all :(
See thats the problem with the acting being not so very good, the monsters are far more sympathetic.
Also, I got distracted by an AU. For a moment, from one angle, the Sinbad guy reminded me of Aidan Gillen, ie Stuart Alan Jones from Queer as Folk. Not very much, but enough to give me ideas. So suddenly I had massive rewrite bunnies. The whole 'princess' thing is obviously just political. Her servant lady tries to keep the men away for entirely different reasons. And the genie who ends up a cabin boy would have to be a bit older, about 15...
(I should be all *facepalm* about some of the stuff my brain comes up with, I really should. But... it was pretty...)
The idea ended up rather panto though, so no.
